RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noise able to bend, lift, stoop and carry objects up to 60lbs or more without restrictions.
- I authorize and am willing to pay for a National Background Check if recommended for this or any position at a minimum cost of $24.90. This is a second shift job, 12 months per year, vacation days and 12 paid holidays, full benefits.
- Performs general, routine custodial duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, washing windows, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
- Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
- Empty trash receptacles dispose of trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
- Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
- Put up signs to signal wet floors during cleaning or to show any other form of safety situation in the surroundings
- Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels; for positions within on-campus residence halls, responsible for reporting concerns related to on-campus residents.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs minor, job-related, maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture, and fixtures (e.g. change vacuum cleaner belts, bags, repairs desks, and tables, change light bulbs, painting, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper functioning and usability of items.
- Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
- Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
- Prepares and maintains athletic fields and gym floors. Installs and maintains athletic equipment. Assists in refinishing the gym floor.
- Responsible for setting up for indoor sporting events, but will be helped by other custodians if the items to be set in place are too heavy for one person. Authorized to open and close bleachers and to raise and lower basketball backboards
- May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to the Lead Custodian.
- May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Distinguishing Characteristics
- Position requires a) use of power equipment to buff and restore floors and shampoo carpets; b) regular and routine dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning restrooms; and c) routine maintenance of custodial equipment.
Job requires the following physical demands
- Lifting; carrying, pushing or pulling of up to 60 pounds, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Generally the job requires 5% sitting; 80% walking; 15% standing. Job is performed under some temperature extremes including interior and exterior exposure. Frequent contact and exposure to Blood Borne pathogens and air-borne infectious diseases is expected.

Starting Hourly Rate Placement: $16.97-18.69
