Computer Foundations in a Digital Age
 
Purpose Statement 
 
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in basic and complex algorithms and problem solving techniques, web design and development, and programming principles.
 
Essential Functions 
 
-  Develops and administers computer science curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives; develops technology units to be delivered in the classroom or technology lab. 
 
-  Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. 
 
-  Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, and utilizes appropriate equipment for subject area; translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction. 
 
-  Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of technical skills to everyday existence; guides students in the selection of projects or experiments. 
 
- Promotes positive engagement with technology through teaching and modeling appropriate digital citizenship.
 
-  Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. 
 
-  Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. 
 
-  Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. 
 
-  Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. 
 
-  Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. 
 
-  Coordinates with other professionals for the purpose of maximizing the uses and effectiveness of technology in student learning activities. 
 
-  Selects and requisitions appropriate instructional aids and other educational resources.

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in
academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum;
documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational

5. Has completed Concussion Certification and the National Federation of High School Sports Coaching Accreditations with compliance to IHSAA coaching certification regulations.
 
REPORTS TO: The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in 
conjunction with the high school principals 
 
SUPERVISES: In several instances, the head coach must advise, coordinate and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the 
athletic director and respective principal. 
 
JOB GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training 
necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same 
time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially 
acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of 
accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills 
through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
 
GENERAL:
1. The success of athletic programs has a strong influence on the community's 
image of the entire system. The public exposure is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and good mental health. 
 2. The position includes other unusual aspect such as extended time, risk injury 
factor and due process predicaments. 
 3. It is the express intent of this job description to give sufficient guidance to 
function. In cases not specifically covered, it shall be assumed that a coach 
shall exercise common sense and good judgment. 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation's
School Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the 
sports program. 
2. Has knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements same consistently and interprets them for staff. 
3. Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
4. Has knowledge of existing system, state (IHSAA) and league (Conference) regulations.
 
STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Established the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff. Designs 
conferences, clinics and staff meetings to insure staff awareness of overall program. 
2. Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth by encouraging clinic attendance according to local clinic policy. 
3. Delegates specific duties, supervises implementation and, at season's end, analyzes staff 
effectiveness and evaluates all assistants. 
4. Maintains discipline, adjusts grievances and works to increase morale and cooperation. 
5. Performs such other duties which may be assigned by the athletic director/principal. 
 
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: 
1. Assists the athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sport events. 
2. Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to

4. Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is

discipline is necessary and contracts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible. 
9. Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.

1. Participates in the budgeting function with the athletic director by establishing requirements for the next season. Recommends equipment guidelines as to type, style, color or technical specifications. 
Is responsible for operating within budget appropriations.

Arranges for issuing, storing and reconditioning of equipment and submits annual inventory and 
current records concerning same.
