    Job Summary:
    • Coach and instruct youth enrichment sports courses and classes to students in grades K-8.
    • Work with the CE Youth Enrichment team to develop and plan a variety of sports-based youth enrichment courses and classes.
    • Ensure the safety and well being of all students in attendance of each class.

    Qualifications:
    • Experience working with children in grades (K-8) in an educational role.
    • Ability to maintain focus and enthusiasm while being responsive to student’s needs.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and building staff.
    • Ability to use a variety of teaching methods and materials that engage student interest.
    • Ability to maintain a positive rapport with children including the ability to correct inappropriate student behavior with fairness and consistency.
    • Effectively develop and plan future courses/course material as part of a team.  
    • Flexibility and the ability to work as a cooperative team member.
    • Regular, on-time attendance is required.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.
     
    Facilitate Children’s Growth and Development
    • Structure the program to meet the individual needs of the children with regard to developmental stage, varied temperaments, learning styles and standards, experiences, talents, etc.
    • Confer supportively with parents on individual basis and make referrals when appropriate.
    • Model appropriate interaction for parents and children.
    • Observe, record, and report significant individual and group interactions.
    • Mandated reporter of suspected abuse or neglect as dictated by State, Federal, and Agency polices.
     
    Plan and Implement Curriculum
    • Plan and implement curriculum that meets children’s needs with special concern for enhancing self-esteem and promoting socio-emotional growth.
    • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate parent/child interaction activities.
    • Prepare materials and supplies for children’s activities.
    • Guide teaching team in using developmentally appropriate and research-based practice 
     
    Integrate with Parent Educators 
    • Communicate with parent group facilitators about children and significant events in children’s room.
    • Communicate with parent educators about parent/child interaction and regularly integrate children’s and parent’s topics.
    • Coordinate any special programming or field trips with a parent educator.
     
    Participate in Team Building
    • Supervise and delegate responsibilities to aides, assistants, and volunteers.
    • Attend staff meetings and in-services.
    • Discuss program plans with staff members and encourage team to contribute to curriculum and planning. 
     
    Cooperate with Staff to Maintain Quality of the Program
    • Follow program policies and guidelines.
    • Communicate with parents about program policies.
    • Keeps accurate records of attendance, conferences, evaluations, referrals, and visitors.

    Maintaining Physical Environment
    • Prepare and maintain physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development of child.
    • Monitor safety of environment.
    • Clean and disinfect toys and equipment as needed.
    • Create an environment of warmth and acceptance.
    • Set up and clean up classroom at beginning and end of year.
    • Follow all health and safety procedures including hand washing, toileting, or diapering procedure where necessary and monitor children’s health and fitness for participation in the program.
     
    Improving Professional Skills and Knowledge
    • Attend conferences, classes, and workshops that are relevant to early childhood family education and/or observe another early childhood or ECFE program.
    • Knowledgeable in all areas of ECFE (and/or others programs you are working with)
    • Read journals, articles, and books to keep current with the early childhood family education field.

    Education And/Or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university.  One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Communication Skills:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
     
    Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
