PRIMARY FUNCTION:     To provide assistance to the school principal in the total school program.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
             1.    Postgraduate Professional License with the Administration and Supervision endorsement or eligibility for the endorsement.
             2.    At least three years of successful full-time experience as an educator, teacher, supervisor, or administrator one year of which must have been in the elementary grades.
             3.    Have demonstrated the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
 
REPORTS TO:   Principal
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
             1.    To assist the principal in the implementation, supervision, and assessment of the total school instructional program.
             2.    To assist the principal in the selection, assignment, orientation, and evaluation of staff.
             3.    To coordinate the assignments of and to assist with supervision of student teachers and volunteers.
             4.    To assist the principal in the supervision of student conduct and extracurricular activities.
             5.    To supervise and coordinate staff non-primary duty assignments.
             6.    To supervise and/or coordinate field trips.
             7.    To supervise the school's safety, security, and environmental control programs.
             8.    To supervise and coordinate distribution of textbooks.
             9.    To assist the principal in the departmental budgeting process and the acquisition of supplies and supplementary materials for instructional usage.          
            10.   To assist the principal in the coordination of programs and services supplementary to the instructional programs.
            11.   To supervise and/or coordinate the attendance/enrollment/tardy policy and program.
            12.   To perform other duties as assigned by the principal or superintendent.
 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     Standard 12-month administrative contract.
 
EVALUATION:     Performance will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel.

TITLE: Mathematics Coach (K - 5) – 10 MONTHS
PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Department of Teaching and Learning, the Mathematics Coach (K-5) provides district-wide supports and guidance on math curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention for all students in grades K - 5. Candidates should have experience in teaching; designing and building curriculum; developing assessments and analyzing student performance data; creating, organizing, and leading professional learning experiences for instructional leaders and teachers and is accountable for driving student outcomes. The Mathematics Coach must be able to develop and maintain relationships with vital external partner organizations to enhance learning opportunities for instructional leaders and teachers.

The Mathematics Coach will be expected to collaborate with the PreK-12 Mathematics Coach(s) in addition to supporting elementary school learning. This will include supporting projects and working collaboratively to ensure articulation in math teaching and learning from elementary through high school.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Contribute to the district-wide vision for elementary school mathematics teaching and learning.
• Support and inform the development of resources, including curriculum and assessments, aligned to Standards of Learning for math, that will result in student growth.
• Support teacher practice via professional learning, curriculum supports, programmatic supports, and partnerships with the goal of improving student outcomes.
• Design and facilitate professional learning for elementary school teachers, instructional leaders, and administrators based on division needs and recommendations from Department of Teaching & Learning.
• Create tools and resources that demonstrate instructional best practices in elementary mathematics.
• Research, evaluate, and prepare recommendations on instructional materials, effective pedagogy, technology use, and other relevant policy guidance for all elementary mathematics students.
• Support school teams in implementing strategies from their Continuous School Improvement Plans (CSIPs) to drive student growth and achievement.
• Provide differentiated instructional support in schools through working:
  • directly with teachers to model and support the use of effective, research-based instructional practices that is guided by data/evidence.
  • collaboratively with teams (Administration, Departments, ITCs, Coaches, etc.) to drive data-informed instructional planning and be accountable for targeted outcomes.
  • with school-based leadership teams to meet school and division goals.
 
• Develop, coordinate, and maintain relationships with external partners associated with mathematics teaching and learning.
• Collaborate within the Office of Teaching and Learning and across Central Office and schools to ensure alignment and coherence of division priorities.
• Perform related duties as required to support the priorities of the strategic plan of the Department of Teaching & Learning.
• Communicate with clarity the agreed upon strategies and norms for supporting networks and schools.


To be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Mathematics Coach (K – 5) must possess the following qualifications:

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study.
• Master's degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
• A minimum of 5 years of elementary school mathematics teaching experience; leadership experience required.
• A minimum of 3 years working with adult learners, including, designing, facilitating, and evaluating professional learning needs of teachers.
CERTIFICATION:
• Valid teaching certificate issued by the Virginia Board of Education with appropriate grade level and content level endorsement.
 
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• Expertise in the Virginia Standards of Learning for math.
• Expertise in research-based math instructional practices and pedagogy.
• Experience designing and leading adult professional learning experiences.
• Ability to define problems, analyze data and develop action plans as part of a continuous improvement cycle.

• Understanding of Virginia-Tiered System of Supports (VTSS) & Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
• Commitment to continuous improvement.

TITLE:  ASPIRA Leadership Club Advisor (Facilitator) 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
In general, the role of the Club Advisor is to provide sound direction, advice, and coordination regarding general Club concerns and needs. The ASPIRA Club Advisor will facilitate the learning process of Aspirantes (as participants are called) through a curriculum ASPIRA will provide. The curriculum is structured to assist the process of student engagements by collecting web resources, PowerPoint presentations, and handouts, among other materials. This material will be used to enhance knowledge about the development of leadership, the strengthening of resiliency skills, and the promotion of self-confidence. 
 
The purpose of the ASPIRA Youth Leadership Development Clubs is to provide a forum for students to become aware of their culture and community while developing leadership skills and advancing academically.  The Leadership Club will provide leadership training, cultural enrichment, and community-action projects that teach students how to develop their abilities to become effective community members. The club curriculum contains a section on both positive youth development and social-emotional learning (SEL) within the context of appropriate and relevant native and cultural knowledge. Dr. Abdín Noboa-Ríos will work with the Club Advisor on this effort, at times accompanying the Advisor with activities.   
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
1. Minimum of a high school diploma with preferred post-secondary education credentials. 
2. Proficient and fluent in reading, writing and speaking in English (or bilingual in English/Spanish) 
3. Strong interpersonal communication and collaborative skills with children and adults, with the ability to build positive relationships, motivate and engage students. 
4. Self-driven, committed work ethic, and takes pride in serving others. 
5. Previous work experience working with secondary students is preferred. 
6. Basic proficiency in software and related IT tools. 
 
REPORTS TO:  ASPIRA Leadership and Oversight Coordinators 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  
Bi-Monthly, After-School Club Meetings and Preparation  
• Works collaboratively with ASPIRA staff, selected students and their families through at least 10 weeks of club meetings during the second semester, to include preparation time. 
• Consistently promotes a climate for positive affirmation, career orientation, personal accomplishment, identity formation, and community pride.  
• Manages and tracks student attendance, including parent contacts when students are absent or to provide feedback regarding their child’s engagement.  
• Other duties, as assigned by the ASPIRA Association. 
College Visits  
• Coordinate and facilitate at least one college visit with students in the Club, where parents can also assist as volunteers/chaperones for college visits (pending FCPS clearance) 
Community Service Projects 
• Plan and implement at least one community service project per year  
Data Collection 
• Provides data and information to ASPIRA regarding student attendance, progress and engagement during the second semester. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 
This position is expected to begin on Friday, January 17, 2025 (specific dates are TBD) with a commitment towards the responsibilities listed in this job description.  Selected candidates will be paid an hourly wage of $31 per hour for services.

The ASPIRA Leadership Club 
 
The ASPIRA Association sponsors Leadership Clubs across the country through its various ASPIRA state offices in eight states, DC, and Puerto Rico. These clubs started in 1961, when the organization was founded in New York City (now headquartered in DC). Since then, some 750,000 Club members have continued onto higher education.
The purpose of the Clubs is to promote the growth and development of Latino students in middle and high schools for both academic achievement and personal wellbeing through a variety of activities and projects. For the most part, our Clubs work in partnership with the school, with many participants also receiving other school benefits, whether these be afterschool programs, sporting activities, college visits, or neighborhood projects.  
 
At FCPS, we are in the process of combining Club activities with afterschool mentoring/tutoring for Club members and providing family reinforcement via parent training activities. We will be starting this process at the Walker-Grant Middle School in January 2025.  
The purpose of the ASPIRA Youth Leadership Development Clubs is to provide a forum for students to become aware of their culture and community while developing leadership skills and advancing academically. Social integration and the strengthening of resiliency skills through group participation and Club activities are essential components of the ASPIRA Leadership Club. As such, students will have the opportunity to express their views and, through peer engagement, learn to appreciate and interact with the opinions of their peers.  
Additionally, each Club will plan and implement at least one community service project per year that allows them to give back to their community. Another aspect of the program is to promote career opportunities, so at least one college visit is envisioned by the Club, where parents can also assist as volunteers/chaperones for college visits, provided district clearance.   
 
As designed, the Clubs provide leadership training, cultural enrichment, and community-action projects that teach students how to develop their abilities to become effective community members.  
An ASPIRA Club Faculty Advisor/Coordinator (or teacher sponsor) will facilitate the learning process of Aspirantes (as participants are called) through a curriculum ASPIRA will provide. The curriculum is structured to assist the process of student engagements by collecting web resources, PowerPoint presentations, and handouts, among other materials. This material will be used to enhance knowledge about the development of leadership, the strengthening of resiliency skills, and the promotion of self-confidence.  
 
It is important to note that the curriculum contains a section on both positive youth development and social-emotional learning (SEL) within the context of appropriate and relevant native and cultural knowledge. Dr. Abdín Noboa-Ríos will work with the Club Advisor/Coordinator on this effort, at times accompanying the coordinator with activities.   
Quite specifically, the curriculum is arranged in ten units. Every unit has a module that is followed by a set of activities. Each unit contains a course description, goals, objectives, and resources. Additionally, each is reinforced by a Facilitator Manual and a set of video and PowerPoint presentations. The curriculum includes the following units: Overview of ASPIRA; The ASPIRA Clubs; Building Personal Growth; Building Resiliency; Leadership Development; Academic Success; Career Awareness; Community Involvement; Building Cultural Awareness; Public Policy Leadership and Responsibility; Financial Literacy and Lifelong Success.  
 
For the Clubs, taking time to select a strong Faculty Advisor that represents the ASPIRA Club is of particular importance. An Advisor that does not attend meetings or provide youth with valuable information regarding school policies cannot serve as a valuable resource. In general, the role of the Advisor is to provide sound direction, advice, and coordination regarding general Club concerns and needs.  
Each Club is led by a cabinet consisting of a student President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Each Club aims to create a group climate for positive affirmation, career orientation, personal accomplishment, identity formation, and community pride. The Club works as a self-affirming group that bolsters youth self-governance, resiliency strengthening, and personal worth, each working to enhance personal wellbeing and stability. 
 
The Club Advisor will be compensated for their work with the Club on an hourly basis consisting of about 48 hours at an hourly rate of at least $31/hr, including 10 weeks of Club meetings during the semester, preparation time, and a trip to a local university.

• Assess students’ strengths and areas for improvement. Develop personalized learning plans that cater to their academic challenges. 
• Monitor and report on student progress. Regularly adjust lesson plans and strategies based on student performance and feedback. 
• Assist students with homework, projects, study habits, and test preparation. 
• Help students with test preparation, homework assignments, and study skills to enhance their academic success.  
• Offering feedback and study strategies to enhance learning outcomes. 
• Teaching study skills and time management techniques to improve overall academic performance. 
• Encouraging students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 
• Communicate with parents/guardians as well as teachers through progress updates and be able to discuss specific concerns or additional support needs.

• Oversee preschool fiscal compliance and processes; assist in monitoring compliance with grant and government guidelines, ensure compliance with funding source and administrative guidelines by monitoring and maintaining timely receipt of revenue, accurate submission of financial reports, and orderly closure of project
• To prepare and reconcile each year for audit
• To sort, proof, and prepare material for posting and working with the postage machine
• To track records, accounting statements, and vouchers for all preschool program budgets
• To prepare all purchase orders and requisitions for preschool programs
• To check in all shipments of goods relating to purchase orders and requisitions
• To maintain a supply inventory and order supplies as needed, work with vendors and bid out as required.
• Responsible for preschool grant accounting functions, preparation of required grant reports and financial documentation maintenance
• Prepare bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month end close
• Review reports for consistency, accuracy, and compliance with funding sources
• Review compliance reports and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
• Continuously identify and implement work process improvements to streamline accounting methods and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness between preschool programs
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of all accounts and records

• Prepare and distribute financial and cost reports to grant funding sources, as well as internal departments and stakeholders; organize and prepare federal, state, and other budgets and financial information for preschool director/principal

Job Title: Educational Diagnostician (11-months)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Educational Diagnostician is responsible for conducting and interpreting comprehensive educational and diagnostic assessments, including cross-battery assessments. The Educational Diagnostician collaborates with school-based teams and other exceptional education service providers to recommend instructional strategies, accommodations, interventions, and modifications to support students based on the results of these assessments.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
ASSESSMENT
• Receive student referrals and implement the assessment and evaluation process within state timelines.
• Select and administer formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal and state regulations.
• Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student’s cumulative folder, classroom teachers, principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource people.
• Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers on effective strategies.
• Provide assessment reports to the special education department within one week of meeting dates.
CONSULTATION
• Consult with parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.
• Support general education teachers and administrators to implement appropriate strategies to meet the needs of students with IEPs.
• Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.
• Support the implementation of accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs in the general education classroom and during Special Education service time.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
Provides personal computer (PC) repair, maintenance and trouble shooting at various locations throughout the school division.  Sets up network services and organizes and configures network resources, managing, protecting, backing up and documenting the network. • Holds a high school diploma with additional technical training or college courses.  
• Has PC Repair Certification (A+). 
• Has Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification or higher 
• Has three (3) years of experience working in the technical personal computer field with knowledge of a variety of software including Office 365. 
• Has experience in an Enterprise Windows environment. 
• Working knowledge of Active Directory 
• Speaks and writes clearly/appropriately.

1. Monitors local area network hardware and software including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and wiring. 
2. Provides basic network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems 
3. Provides local workstation support for building to include hardware setup, hardware moves, troubleshooting, install approved applications, troubleshoot operating environment, and imaging. 
4. Installs new computers, printers, scanners and other peripherals. 
5. Provides local area network administration to include backups, add/change/delete users install printers 
6. Assists in the development of a plan for hardware and operating system software purchases in support of administrative and instructional computing 
7. Develops technical standards to ensure the efficient operation of the network. 
8. Keeps current in new industry trends and technologies, and advises the Supervisor of Technology of such events. 
9. Meets departmental and organizational deadlines. 
10. Prioritize numerous projects and manages daily workload. 
11. Maintains a personal computer repair and part replacement inventory. 
12. Maintains a daily log of work completed. 
13. Performs other tasks as assigned
