TITLE: Mechanic
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Performs skilled work in the repair and maintenance of all school board and city vehicles.
Qualifications:
1. High School diploma required.
2. Two (2) years’ experience repairing gas, diesel, and electric vehicles.
3. Must have or be eligible for a Commercial Driver’s License with Endorsement in Class P and S.
4. ASE certification preferred.
5. Knowledge of performing skilled automotive mechanical work on gas, diesel, and electric vehicles.
6. Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
7. Knowledge safe working techniques with self and fellow employees with the use of necessary hand and power tools pertaining to the field.
8. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple and varied tasks.
Reports to: Supervisor of Transportation
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs preventative maintenance check-ups and services on all gas and diesel school vehicles and equipment.
2. Completes all oil changes and preventative maintenance of all school vehicles.
3. Coordinates inspections of all school vehicles.
4. Visually inspects, adjusts, and makes repairs on all school vehicles when possible.
5. Responds to emergency road calls from disabled school equipment, make minor adjustment, or has the vehicle towed to the bus garage.
6. Maintains and service electric bus fleet.
7. Trains and supervises automotive employees when needed.
8. Maintain supplies and equipment.
9. Maintain and prioritize work orders.
10. Repair or replace all vehicle components.
11. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
