    TITLE: Computer Technician – 12 months 
     
    PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
    Provides personal computer (PC) repair, maintenance and trouble shooting at various locations throughout the school division.  Sets up network services and organizes and configures network resources, managing, protecting, backing up and documenting the network. Assists in maintaining the network by managing the security, print services, application and storage services.  Is responsible for the installation, operation,

    QUALIFICATIONS: 
    • Holds a high school diploma with additional technical training or college courses.  
    • Has PC Repair Certification (A+). 
    • Has Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification or higher 
    • Has three (3) years of experience working in the technical personal computer field with knowledge of a variety of software including Office 365. 
    • Has experience in an Enterprise Windows environment. 
    • Working knowledge of Active Directory 
    • Speaks and writes clearly/appropriately.

    • Holds a valid driver’s license.  
    Reports To:  Supervisor of Technology 
     
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 
    1. Monitors local area network hardware and software including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and wiring. 
    2. Provides basic network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems 
    3. Provides local workstation support for building to include hardware setup, hardware moves, troubleshooting, install approved applications, troubleshoot operating environment, and imaging. 
    4. Installs new computers, printers, scanners and other peripherals. 
    5. Provides local area network administration to include backups, add/change/delete users install printers 
    6. Assists in the development of a plan for hardware and operating system software purchases in support of administrative and instructional computing 
    7. Develops technical standards to ensure the efficient operation of the network. 
    8. Keeps current in new industry trends and technologies, and advises the Supervisor of Technology of such events. 
    9. Meets departmental and organizational deadlines. 
    10. Prioritize numerous projects and manages daily workload. 
    11. Maintains a personal computer repair and part replacement inventory. 
    12. Maintains a daily log of work completed. 
    13. Performs other tasks as assigned

    Physical Demands: 
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions for this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel objects, materials, and/or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop and kneel.  The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  Driving to various school facilities is required. 
     
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  12 Months 
      
    EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administration regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
