    Salary Range: $44,518-$82,959 
    Benefits: The teacher benefits include contributions to health, dental, and life insurance plans, with the district covering a portion of premiums. Full-time eligible teachers can access the district's Group Health Plan and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) if enrolled in a high-deductible health plan, with contributions up to $968.57/month in 2024-25. If eligible, the school district contribution toward dental insurance is $59.14/month for the 2024-25 school year, and the contribution toward life insurance is $20.69/month for the same period. Sick leave accrues at 12 days annually, with up to 48 hours designated as Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST). Unused sick leave is unlimited, while ESST accrues up to 20 days. Additionally, teachers have access to bereavement, jury, military, and unpaid childcare leave along with a matched 403(b) plan and professional development Substituteopportunities.     Reporting Relationship: The School Counselor or School Social Worker reports directly to the Building Principal 

     

    East Grand Forks, MN is a city with a population of approximately 9,000 and located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota. It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district's K-12 enrollment is approximately 1950 students as well as a thriving preschool program. The district has four separate school buildings housing grades PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. The district also boasts a thriving Preschool Program and lifelong learning opportunities through Community Education.

    Position Summary: A School Counselor or School Social Worker plays a critical role in supporting students' academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. Additionally, they ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to student support services and advocate for equitable access to resources that enhance student achievement and well-being.

     

    Essential Duties: The preferred candidate will be expected to provide educational and mental health intervention to students, offering counseling services, crisis intervention, and individualized support to help students overcome challenges impacting their learning and well-being. They will consult with staff, teachers, and parents to address student issues, promote social-emotional development, and support academic success. The candidate will develop strategies for fostering a positive school climate and engaging in trauma-informed practices. Additionally, they will inspire students to develop confidence, competence, and courage to achieve their dreams, contribute to the community, and pursue lifelong learning. The role involves providing services to meet the needs of the assigned caseload and leading efforts to enhance student development across grade levels.
     

     

    Key Responsibilities: The School Counselor or School Social Worker provides comprehensive student support services, addressing academic, social-emotional, and mental health needs to promote student success. This role is essential in helping students overcome challenges, access resources, and achieve success in school and beyond.Key responsibilities include:

     
    • Student Support & Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling to support students’ emotional well-being, social skills, and academic success.

    • Crisis Intervention: Respond to student crises, assess risk factors, and connect families with appropriate resources.

    • Collaboration & Advocacy: Work closely with teachers, administrators, and families to develop intervention plans and ensure student support.

    • Special Education & 504 Compliance: Assist with the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.

    • Behavioral & Social-Emotional Interventions: Implement strategies to address behavioral concerns and promote positive student development.

    • Community & Family Engagement: Connect students and families with school and community-based services for additional support.

    • School Climate & Wellness Initiatives: Develop and implement programs that foster a positive, inclusive school environment.

    • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to state and federal regulations related to student support services.

    • Other: Other duties as assigned.
       

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • Education: Master’s degree in school counseling or a related field or Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work (MSW preferred) from an accredited program.

    • License: MN K-12 School Social Worker or School Counselor License.
