Hours:
   8 hours per day
   5 days per week (Monday - Friday with some weekend coverage)

Requirements:
• School bus experience preferred
• Basic computer knowledge
• Strong electrical and troubleshooting skills
• Must have own tools
• Must have a clean driving record and have or be able to obtain a Minnesota Commercial Driver's License with School Bus Endorsement
• Teamwork skills
• Ability to perform duties in cooperation with the Core Values of the Bloomington Public Schools

Responsibilities:
1. Bus Maintenance and Repair
• Troubleshoot, repair and rebuild all vehicle systems including drive train, brakes, electrical exhaust, vehicle body and seats
• Record parts and labor accurately on work orders
• Perform or assist in preventative maintenance program as necessary
• Attempts to repair on-the-road breakdowns as needed
• Complies with safety/health rules and uses protective equipment
2. Other District Vehicles / Equipment Maintenance and Repair
• Troubleshoot, repair and rebuild all vehicle systems including drive train, brakes, electrical exhaust, vehicle body and seats
• Record parts and labor accurately on work orders
• Perform or assist in preventative maintenance program as necessary
• Communicates vehicle status information with appropriate staff and drivers
• Attempts to repair on-the-road breakdowns as needed
• Complies with safety/health rules and uses protective equipment
3. Other Duties
• Drive a school bus when needed
• Snow removal when needed

Description:
• Monitors Special Education students on and off the bus
• Help with behavior issues and interact positively with parents and school personnel
• Will need to secure wheelchairs, car seats, seatbelts, and harnesses.
• Works with Bus Aides to ensure safety measures are being met
Experience:

• 4-5 hour shifts (split shift AM & PM routes)

Salary: 
• Bus Assistants start at $20.01 per hour

Physical Requirements:
• Pre-trip vehicle inspection: lifting hood, climbing and reaching to inspect engine area, bending and squatting to inspect tires, walking up and down aisle  to check seats and exits. Will require periods of exposure to elements.
• Continued braking, accelerating, steering, and operation of service doors and controls while driving.
• Capable of lifting and dragging students in case of an emergency (ranging in weight from a small child to full adult weight).
• Exposure to road dust, occasional fuel and exhaust fumes.
Qualifications:
• Applicant must be a high school graduate or hold a GED, enjoy working with children and have a valid driver's license for at least 1 year with a good driving record. Prefer individuals with a Class B CDL, School bus, and Passenger endorsements.
• Individuals that are able to work AM and PM and have flexible schedules.
