Position: Rising Kindergarten Summer Camp Teachers and Teaching Assistants
Building: Davis PreK-8 School, Ferguson PreK-8 School, Goode PreK-8 School, and McKinley PreK-8 School
Reports to: Pre-K Counts Principal
Dates: June 16 - June 18, 2024 (Teacher preparation days)
June 23 – July 17, 2024 (Student days – Mondays-Thursdays)
(Note: District is closed on June 19th and July 4th)
Hours: 8:00 am-1:00 (Teachers) 8:50 am – 12:30 pm (Students)
Pay Rate: According to the Grant Guidelines
The SDCY Rising Kindergarten Summer Camp is seeking teachers to provide instruction for the Pre-K Summer Program. A SCDY Rising Kindergarten Teacher must demonstrate the vision and passion necessary to lead an innovative program dedicated to educational enrichment and academic excellence. She/He shall report to the Pre-K Counts Principal and will be expected to work collaboratively will all stakeholders.
Teachers are expected to be present each day of the program, demonstrate an appropriate professional decorum, promote an atmosphere conducive to learning, manage deadlines, exhibit a customer-service mindset, and maintain discipline with energy, integrity, creativity, and drive.
Rising Kindergarten Summer Camp Teachers are responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of student lessons in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social-Emotional Learning in accordance with the SDCY’s policies and the Rising Kindergarten Summer Camp expectations. Classroom duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Use EOY PELI AK and PA subtests as baseline data
· Deliver targeted/intensive ELA, Mathematics, and SEL instruction with a structured routine (curriculum and materials are provided)
· Establish high expectations and classroom routines to maximize student engagement
· Prepare activities for transitions
· Develop strong relationships with and among students
· Develop strong relationships with parents
· Assess and measure student progress
· Maintain accurate student attendance including tardiness
· Greet students each day
· Assist/distribute breakfast to students
· Escort students to the cafeteria and teach healthy eating/etiquette during lunch
· Dismiss students to identified family member
· Prepare all materials/lessons for next day prior to departing for the day
· Administer the BOY Kindergarten Acadience Screener during last week
