    SUBSTITUTE TEACHER TRAINING 

    STEP 1

    STEP 2  (After you complete your application, you need to complete the online Substitute Teacher training.)

    During this training you will watch a series of video modules and provide feedback on what you learn. You will also complete Code of Ethics training as part of the Substitute Teacher training. You must complete ALL sections of the training to become eligible to work as a Substitute Teacher.
    Upon completion of the training, TCSS Human Resources will be notified, and a completion certificate will be generated. 

    Once STEP 2 is completed Human Resources will contact you to schedule a day and time to come in for your background check.  Please allow up to 7 days to be contacted.

     
    • When HR contacts you they will ask you to come in and do your background check. They will schedule an appointment and you will bring your driver's license and social security card with you.
       
    • After your background check comes back, either two things will happen: 1. You will receive an email with your New Hire Paperwork to complete or 2. Someone from HR will contact you about your background check.
       
    • Once you are given New Hire Paperwork, you will also be give a date and time for a workshop to attend. When you attend the workshop you will be asked to provide a copy of your highest earned educational information. You may submit it electronically, with the application or bring to the orientation. This is used to determine the pay rate for substitute teaching. (i.e. diplomas or transcripts or teaching certificates).

    If you are a TCSS retired or resigned teacher/paraprofessional, (within 1 year), wanting to return to Troup County Schools as a substitute teacher, you must complete an application online.
    If your resignation exceeds 1 year, then you must complete the application and the online training.  
     


    *Computers are available in the lobby at the Administrative Services Center, if needed.
