    Qualifications: 
                1. Possession of a valid B- class CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or a bus Driver      
                    endorsement.
                2. Understand driving regulations and abides by these regulations
     
                3. Available to drive and dependable when needed
     
                4. Has general knowledge of highway traffic laws
     
                5. Is safety conscious and has the ability to maintain discipline whenever necessary
     
    Reports To: Principals of school served/ Either Assistant Director of Transportation or Transportation Communication Specialist Supervises:

    Terms of Employment:
    To be determined by the Board of Education
    Salary:  See Salary Scale
    Job Goal:   
    Provide safe, courteous and regular transportation service as established by the school system.
    Performance Responsibilities & Duties:
                1.         Maintain discipline on the bus.
                2.         Has some knowledge of first aid and learns the use of fire extinguishers and flares.
                3.         Is familiar with bus route sheets that would be involved.
                4.         Know what to do in case of a breakdown.
                5.         Is alert and drives with caution; keeps on schedule as much as possible.
                6.         Stop at all stop signs and railroad crossings; obeys all traffic laws.
                7.         Notify dispatch each day when reporting for duty.
                8.         Is responsible for cleanliness of bus on days on duty.
                9.         Start route by checking all gauges, oil, tires, etc. as outlined in the Pre-Trip Inspection.
                10.       Accept all the responsibilities of drivers regularly employed.
                11.       Light work. Occasional lifting of no more than 20 lbs.  Frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs. 
                12.       Know you capabilities and/or when to request or use outside assistance.
                13.       Attend mandated state driver’s training annually.
                14.       Turn in required route and/or field trip forms within 3 business days.
                15.        Perform post-trip inspections when returning a  bus.      
    Note:  Safety sensitive job class.  Employees in this job class will be subject to random selection for alcohol or controlled substance testing.
     
    Evaluation: 
    System evaluation form completed annually by Supervisor.
