Primary Function:  BDJ Athletics Department is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School Track Coach to lead our program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for track and a commitment to fostering the athletic and personal development of student-athletes. The coach will be responsible for planning and executing practices, organizing competitions, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Program Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the Indoor Track team, including daily practices, conditioning, and skill development.
2. Team Development: Coach and mentor student-athletes, focusing on both individual and team skills. Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
3. Competition Preparation: Prepare the team for matches and tournaments, including strategic planning, match preparation, and in-game coaching.
4. Recruitment and Retention: Work with school administration to recruit and retain student-athletes for the Indoor track program.
5. Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with athletes, parents, and school administration. Provide regular updates on team progress, schedule changes, and other relevant information.
6. Compliance: Ensure compliance with school policies, league regulations, and safety protocols. Keep accurate records of practices, matches, and player performance.
 
Required Qualifications:
• SDE Certification 
• Ability to successfully perform the performance responsibilities of the position.
Working Conditions:
• This is a part-time, seasonal position typically involving after-school hours and weekends for practices and matches.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions and maintain a flexible schedule.

Terms of Employment:  Ten-month year. Salary and work year are determined by the Board of Education and the Teachers’ Bargaining Unit.
Primary Function:  To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible citizens.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Guides the learning process towards the achievement of National Core Arts Standards for Media Arts across the 6-12 grade band.
2. Prepares and carries out plans for instruction which, as much as possible, meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
3. Employs instructional methods and materials that are appropriate, with consideration given to resources available, technology, program load, and other considerations.
4. Utilizes available technology in instructional settings.
5. Evaluates, communicates, and follows up on student progress on a regular basis.
6. Emphasizes competency in the basic skills of media literacy.
7. Maintains a classroom environment conductive to instruction and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
8. Establishes a positive climate for learning; encourages students to do well and to develop a degree of responsibility for learning.
9. Consults and collaborates regularly with colleagues, students and parents to improve student learning; as deemed necessary seeks assistance of school specialists for students with special learning disabilities.
10. Assist the administration in implementing policies, rules, and regulations covering student life and conduct.
11. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom.
12. Seeks to maintain and improve professional competence.
13. Performs such other related tasks as the principal may from time to time assign.
14. Plan, teach, and assess courses in all aspects of media arts to students in the 6-12 grade bands aligned with the National Core Arts Standards for media arts.
15. Utilize technology such as TV Production Studio, Radio Station, Computer Lab, iPads, Chromebooks, iMacs, Keyboard Lab, and more to facilitate student created media artworks.
16. Collaborate with teachers to facilitate integration of media arts across all content areas and grade levels.
17. Maintain and develop knowledge of state-of-the-art practices in educational technology
18. Promote student achievement through integrating the NCAS Standards for Media Arts, ISTE Standards for technology, the Common Core State Standards and the CT State Frameworks.
19. Maintain and build upon current technological tools and practices to foster student achievement and engagement in collaboration with appropriate staff
20. Collaborate with team members to facilitate showcases of student work and achievements in whatever capacity is needed
21. Collaborate with staff and students to facilitate HOT Schools programming and goals
22. Develop and implement media curriculum for 6-12 Grade band in collaboration with appropriate staff
23. Provide all students with an opportunity to develop skills in communication, media arts technique and terminology, digital citizenship, basic technology skills, as well as advanced skills when appropriate.
24. Provide several opportunities throughout the school year for students to share their developing skills, i.e. town meetings, extra-curricular activities, digital formats, etc.
25. Must have experience working with students in the 6-12 grade level band with technology and arts processes.
26. Encourage student artistic exploration within all the arts, guiding them to step outside of comfort zone, while also encouraging their existing artistic strengths.

1. Teaching, managing the classroom, and building relationships with students
2. Take attendance
3. Use positive reinforcement and conflict resolution strategies
4. Create a learning environment that's appropriate for the students' interests and abilities
5. Adapt to different learning styles
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Recommendations from educators who have worked with them in this capacity previously.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom group/population of students.
• Demonstrated ability to implement plans/instructions provided to them by teachers.
• CT teaching certification preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual, English and Spanish
