
Contracted Grounds/Custodial Employee – Full Time
Job Goal:
This position primarily focuses on grounds maintenance but may also include custodial work within the district as needed.
Salary:
$18.00 per hour
Hours:
7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM, depending on the assignment. This is a 40-hour-a-week position with options for overtime.
Reports to:
Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old to operate heavy machinery.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Experience with small machinery, grounds, custodial, or related work desired.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities listed below are not all-inclusive and may change to meet the needs of the School and District.
Grounds Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintenance and repair activities, including painting.
- Operate trucks, utility vehicles, mowers, and other school equipment and tools.
- Move supplies and equipment as directed.
- Perform tree trimming and removal (partial).
- Collect trash, separate and properly dispose of garbage and recyclable materials, and pick up and properly dispose of litter.
- Weed and water planting/floral beds and assist with the maintenance of school grounds.
- Carry, load, and unload materials and equipment; dig, shovel, and rake grounds; clean work sites; weed trimming, landscaping, and irrigation.
- Assist with setup, tear-down, and the operation of special events and functions.
- Follow standard operating procedures for installations and repairs.
Custodial Responsibilities (As Needed):
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, hallways, and other school facilities.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and buff floors.
- Refill restroom and classroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Empty trash and recycling bins.
- Respond to spills and clean up messes promptly to maintain a safe environment.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs or unclogging drains.
- Secure buildings by locking doors and windows and setting alarms as needed.
Additional Requirements:
- Comply with all district work rules, safety protocols, and OSHA regulations.
- Complete required district online compliance training.
- Store and operate power tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
- Work cooperatively with all administrative staff, employees, building principals, and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
