Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To function as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide an appropriate school program for educationally challenged students.
2. Administer, interpret and relate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, in accordance with the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. and within the guidelines of IDEA and District policy.

5. Provide supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), whose license is assigned to a specific occupational therapist, and therefore, requires ongoing supervision by assigned occupational therapist.  Develop/oversee treatment plans and all other duties assigned to COTA, in accordance with principles and standards set forth by the American Occupational Therapy Association and the licensing board of the State.
6. Maintain treatment areas and equipment as required.
7. Provide recommendations, consultations, program training, collaborative treatment with the interdisciplinary team member(s) and/or direct therapy.  Supervise/teach students, their parents, and other staff performing supportive services, as identified within IEP’s.
8. Demonstrate flexibility in meeting the needs of students, areas and equipment as required.
9. Develop and maintain a high degree of rapport with students, parents and colleagues.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Communicates and works collaboratively with special education teachers, regular education teachers and related service providers to implement the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan.
• Provides academic, behavioral, communication and personal care services to students with IEPs or 504 Plan.
• Collects and records data on students’ progress.
• Maintains and submits data for Medicaid to Schools as outlined by the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan, and participates in the review of rehabilitative assistance services.
• Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of skills initially introduced by a teacher and/or related service provider.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality, ethical behavior, and professionalism regarding information about students.
• Assists Special Education and classroom teachers with content-area instruction for small groups or with individual students.
• Provides specified prompts for student engagement and participation.
• Assists teachers planning for and preparing for IEP driven classroom activities.
• Provides information to assist the teacher in evaluation of the learning process, behavior management programs, individual student needs and progress.
• Keeps teacher(s) informed of student progress and learning needs, as necessary.
• With training, sets up and operates equipment; uses assistive technology to support student learning and communication and other equipment.
• Helps maintain order and assists in managing the behavior of students, including crisis intervention as applicable to student IEP goals, objectives and/or Behavior Plans.
• Supervises and supports students in transitions between classrooms, during lunch period and recess, during playground activities, and school transportation.
• Assists in the supervision of students while loading and unloading vehicles.
• May assist with routine care, including personal hygiene, toileting, feeding and other custodial tasks, as required or requested. May be subject to additional compensation based on decision making rubric..
• Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the Building Principal, Special Education Coordinator or Special Education Teacher or designee. 
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
• High School diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Two years of experience in an education related field including preschool, adult day program, after school program, extended day, or school/non-school based departments, etc. preferred.
