SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION:
Under direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal assists with administering and supervising the total school program. Provides educational leadership for students and staff members consistent with the educational goals of the community. Functions include coordinating programs, in addition to establishing a climate conducive to learning, planning, affecting change and decision making.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Thorough knowledge of Milford School District policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations and laws.
2. Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, school operations, and student services.
3. Demonstrates educational leadership conducive to a positive learning environment for students and staff.
4. Effectively communicates with diverse groups.
5. Maintains confidentiality.
6. Motivates, encourages, and works with staff to ensure outstanding performance, as well as good morale.
7. Understands evidence based progressive discipline practices to ensure a positive culture and climate for students, and staff.
8. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
9. Excellent human relations skills.
10. Knowledgeable about special education, 504 and other educational laws.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree with a major in Educational Administration.
Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience and prior experience in an educational leadership role.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Certified by the NH State Department of Education as a Principal (0003) or Associate Principal (0007) preferred.

SCHEDULE: FTE = 1.0
Note: This position allows for a candidate to work with both students and adults. The ideal candidate will have experience in resolving discipline issues and providing high quality feedback and support to teachers.
