This position is a full-time (8 hour) school year only position (180 Days).  We are hiring one position that will be assigned to Goddard Middle School.  

Hourly Base Pay:  $25.51 - Pay for the 10 months is spread out over the 12 months in a year. Additional compensation is based on relavent experience.
Days of the week:  These positions are primarily Monday - Friday.
Shift Hours:  7:50am - 3:50pm
Vacation Time:  N/A
Sick Time:  One 8 hour day per month for 10 months (80 hours annually)
Personal Days:  2 - 8 hour Personal Days  (16 hours annually)

Position Purpose
As a school based District Officer, the primary objective is to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students, staff, and visitors within your assigned school. This role involves implementing and enforcing policies and procedures related to school safety, emergency preparedness, and crisis response. The school based District Security Officer collaborates with school administrators, local law enforcement, and community stakeholders to create a secure and nurturing environment conducive to effective learning. Additionally, the position entails fostering positive relationships with students and assisting to resolve conflict. The school based District Security Officer serves as a visible and approachable presence, promoting a sense of trust and community while proactively addressing any security concerns that may arise. Overall, the incumbent is dedicated to promoting a safe and supportive educational environment that contributes to the holistic development of all individuals within the school community.

Essential Duties:
• Provides the monitoring of all of the district’s surveillance security cameras.
• Monitors and interacts with the district's unified security, communication, mass notification, and all hazard monitoring/alert systems. Responds too and or dispatches appropriate responders to events and incidents that are detected throughout the school.
• Performs mobile and foot patrols of district property interior/exterior to team standards; is aware of and able to communicate via mobile radio or cell phone to others about all security instructions and district emergency planning procedures; respond to incidents as a 1^st responder and assist other 1^st responders in emergencies; responds to emergencies and assists other responders in a professional manner.
• Interacts with staff, students and the public in a professional manner to include properly de-escalating difficult situations; works under potentially hostile and stressful situations. Logs all incident reports, building access/secures and other assigned reports to standards.
• Provides light maintenance and service checks on card readers, change batteries, motion detectors, security cameras and other assigned equipment as directed by the Assistant Director of Security. 
• Conducts and documents at least one camera audit per day.  Information from the audit must be logged in the appropriate google sheet.  Emails may be required to the appropriate District Security staff to complete a repair.
• Conducts daily building audits with the Ready Op form.  Serious damage should be reported immediately to your direct Supervisor and the local School Liaison. 
• Conduct regular patrols of the school campus to deter and detect any suspicious activities or safety hazards.
• Respond promptly to any security incidents or emergencies that occur on campus, including fights, disturbances, medical emergencies or criminal activity in conjunction with the School Resource Officer
• Enforce school rules and regulations, including dress code policies, visitor procedures and behavioral expectations.
• Investigate incidents of misconduct, vandalism, theft, or other violations of school policies or procedures.
• Collaborate with the School Resource Officer and/or Law Enforcement staff when necessary including reporting incidents.
• Assist with the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures, including participating in drills and exercises.
• Collaborate with school administrators, counselors and other staff members to address security concerns and implement proactive measures to enhance campus security.
• Ensure all safety equipment such as locks, alarms and communication devices are being properly maintained and functioning effectively.
• Be visible and approachable to students and staff members to promote a sense of security and trust within the school community.

Other Duties
• Consistent Schedules: Efforts will be made to maintain consistent employee schedules; however, due to the limited number of school based District Security Officers, occasional schedule adjustments may be necessary.
• Versatile Shifts: All District Security Officers are expected to be proficient in working between 7:00am – 7:00pm, displaying flexibility to contribute effectively across various time frames.
• Schedule Changes: Recognizing the dynamic nature of our operations, District Security Officers must be aware that their schedules could be subject to change based on factors such as staff illness, staff training, and staff vacations or based on a management decision.
• Overtime Considerations: Shift adjustments may occur with the goal of minimizing overtime within the department. Flexibility in accepting changes is crucial to promoting efficient use of resources.
• Continuous Operations: School Based District Security Officers must understand the necessity of someone covering each shift, particularly during holidays, to ensure uninterrupted security coverage and the safety of the school community.
• Cross Training:  This will be cross-trained at a variety of school to ensure a balanced workload.

Job Qualifications - Education/Certification
• Must have a high school degree or equivalent. Some criminal justice or human services college level coursework desirable but not required.
• Must obtain CPI certification within six months of employment
• Required to maintain current First Aid/CPR/AED certification during course of employments in this position
• Criminal background check required for hire
• Required to have 6-8 hours annual training
Experience
At least 3 years of experience in security system monitoring and physical security is preferred

Grade:  8
Hourly Pay: $25.51 (This position includes Sick Time and Personal days).
Vacation Time:  No vacation time is accrued in this position
Work Hours: The primary shift hours will run from 12:00pm - 8:00pm, however, shifts may vary based on need which may include Weekends,Nights and Holidays.
Location: This position is based out of the District Office (not a school site).
Calendar:  This is a fulltime 180 day "flex" calendar based out of the District Security Office.  The calendar is subject to change based on District priorities.  This 180 "flex" calendar does not match the District Security Officers who work directly at a school site.  This position is designed around the Security Department's priorities in the District Office.
 
 
Position Purpose:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  The primary duties of this position will be to review bus transportation videos, be able to work all shifts at the dispatch desk.  In addition, this position will also be required to wire and change out security cameras and assist with wiring or doors and door frames.  May assist with the development of technical security videos to train staff.

Essential Duties:
 
• Monitors and interacts with the district's unified security, communication, Mass Notification, HVAC, Fire, and all hazard monitoring/alert systems. Responds to and/or dispatches appropriate responders to events and incidents detected by these unified systems.
• Patrols district property by foot and/or vehicle to check exterior and interior for situations and activity that could impact the safety and security of the district if requested
• Responds to emergencies and assists other responders professionally.
• Conducts thorough reviews of bus surveillance footage as a critical component of daily responsibilities, dedicating four to six hours of each shift to meticulously analyze and document activities. This process is essential for identifying and addressing any potential safety concerns or incidents involving students. The officer is responsible for ensuring that all findings are accurately recorded and promptly communicated to district leadership to enhance student safety and improve transportation security protocols.  
• Interacts with staff, students, and the public in a professional manner, including properly de-escalating difficult situations.
• Logs all alarms, incident reports, HVAC status checks, card access transactions, building access/secures, and other assigned reports to standards.
• Logs all events detected on the unified security, HVAC, Fire, Mass Notification, and all hazard detection systems. Events will be logged in the correct log and reporting systems.
• Communicates via phone, e-mail, two-way pagers, and two-way radio.
• Performs directed maintenance and diagnostics on the unified security system. These duties include video management function checks, security system checks, access card system checks, mass notification system checks, and device battery change-outs as directed.
• Communicates with others utilizing the unified security system's interoperability communication systems.
• Performs general periodic emergency response pager duty after hours; responds to situations and emergencies as a 1st responder in 20 minutes or less. While on pager duty, the employee will be able to deploy radio and/or cell phone to provide two-way communication with the security office.
