Lewis-Palmer School District is now hiring a principal at Prairie Winds Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year. The principal is responsible for academic excellence and personal growth of every student, through effective leadership. Organizes school operations around improvement of instruction by maintaining a safe and orderly environment, upholding state laws, contracts and District Policies. Manages personnel, maintains the facility to provide a quality learning environment, efficiently manages financial and facility resources, establishes effective public relationships, and coordinates effective instructional programs with a master schedule.

School Leader Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
Oversees effective instructional programs, observations, and analysis of learning.
Develops and implements improvement plans, leveraging data to drive instructional practices and student outcomes.
Provides embedded, evidence-based professional learning aligned with school goals and educator needs.
Staff Development and Management
Leads, evaluates, mentors, and supports administrative, certificated, and classified personnel.
Builds staff capacity through coaching, feedback, professional development, and collaborative frameworks.
Manages performance, resolves conflicts, and ensures adherence to district policies and agreements.
School Culture and Climate
Fosters an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming culture for students, staff, and families.
Promotes shared leadership, transparency, collaboration, and a safe, caring environment.
Reinforces the vision, values, and mission to ensure student success and shared accountability.
Operations and Resource Management
Efficiently manages financial, personnel, and facility resources to support school improvement.
Maintains a safe and orderly environment, upholds policies, and oversees emergency management plans and training.
Limits distractions, provides clarity on policies, and ensures alignment with the strategic plan.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy
Builds effective public relationships and engages families, community, and district stakeholders.
Utilizes processes to foster ownership, advocacy, and shared responsibility for school goals.
Accountability and Continuous Improvement
Sets clear expectations, monitors progress, and prioritizes student learning outcomes.
Demonstrates a commitment to results, growth, and lifelong learning for all stakeholders.
Supports implementation of strategic goals, accountability committees, and collaborative structures.
Additional Duties
Supervision & Technical Responsibilities:
Directly and indirectly supervises staff as determined by the Executive Team. Supervisory
responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, promoting
and transferring employees; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating;
disciplining and recommending dismissal of employees; and managing budgets.
Budget Responsibility:
In collaboration with the Executive Team, develop, administer, monitor, and coordinate the assigned budgets.
Education & Training:
Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field plus additional coursework required for certification or licensure.
Qualifications and Skills
Three years of leadership experience preferred (e.g., Dean or Assistant Principal).
Minimum 5 years of classroom instructional experience.
Experience in building or district leadership related to special education.
Knowledge of policy, curriculum, evaluation, instruction, and budgeting.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Commitment to educational equity, dismantling inequities, and supporting all students.
Ability to meet physical demands of the role, with or without accommodations.

Demonstrates leadership and situational awareness with effective communication.
Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:
Criminal background check required for hire
Valid Colorado driver’s license required for hire
Hold a valid Colorado Department of Education Principal License (Must be current and active while in the position)

$101,500-$111,500
