Starting: $16.12/hr 

Job Summary:
AVID Tutors, under the direct supervision of the Avid Teacher, work with middle school and high school students in small groups in the areas of Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies.

Tutors will be expected to perform the following tasks:
•    Become familiar with the materials in the AVID Curriculum Libraries.
•    Become familiar with the textbooks and materials used by AVID students.
•    Determine from student notes and discussions, the concepts that need to be taught or re-taught.
•    Evaluate student binders, including calendars, class, and textbook notes.
•    Conduct tutorial sessions in all areas of mathematics.
•    Assist and model during the tutorials the process of writing in all subject areas, organizational study skills, and college preparation.
•    Work with students in any phase of the writing process, i.e. brainstorming, clustering, revision, and editing.
•    Communicate frequently and honestly with the AVID teacher regarding Student progress and any area of concern.
•    Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for AVID students.

Qualifications:
• High school graduate, college student preferred.
• Strong Math and English background required. Ability to work with students from a variety of backgrounds. Must be dependable. Must model professionalism at all times. The District is looking for reliable individuals, committed to their work site and punctual. Applicants must want and like to work with middle school and/or high school students. Tutors are not allowed to date students or be a "best buddy" to a student.
• Tutorial sessions are held Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the school day for both middle school and high school students. Tutors may work all day, or part of the day, depending on their individual college schedule.
• Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.

Hourly Pay Rate: $16.12/hour
Hours vary by location, ranging from 8 to 14 hours per week.
Tutoring sessions may include an hour in the morning and/or two hours after school plus prep time.
This postion is grant funded.

Job Summary:
The Math Tutor for the after-school program, Elevate, provides targeted academic support to small groups of students, reinforcing math skills from during the day classroom instruction. Responsibilities include preparing and implementing small group rotations for tutoring, ensuring instruction aligns with Colorado’s High Impact Tutoring Program. The tutor will collaborate with the Site Coordinator to use curriculum-aligned resources and reinforce in-class learning. By addressing individual student needs, the tutor fosters a positive learning environment. Additional duties include providing supervision before tutoring sessions, monitoring attendance, and reporting student progress to teachers and the after-school Site Coordinator.

Tutors will be expected to perform the following tasks:
• Conduct small group or individual activities with students to reinforce Math curriculum.
• Supervise student’s math rotation activities and assignments, tutor and provide assistance as needed.
• Assist with after-school snacks and supervising before Math Tutoring
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and math activities, monitoring student work and progress student work, and reporting progress to after school site coordinator.
• Maintain student attendance records for reporting purposes.
• Support classroom teachers with Essential Skills Observation
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0 – 2 years of experience. Child development, Mathematics, or English language experience preferred.
• Basic math, writing, communication, and accounting skills.
• Basic keyboard/computer skills. Knowledge of word processing software.
• Ability to file and maintain accurate record-keeping system.
• Ability to work with children and children with special needs.
• CPR and First Aid preferred.
• Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.

Job Summary: 
Provide an ongoing educational program for homebound and/or expelled students in the district identified as capable of benefiting from instruction. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, content standards and identified achievement gaps. The tutor employs a variety of instructional strategies and assessments and utilized appropriate technology to facilitate student learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ability to support students who have identified gaps in achievement.
• Integrated technology skills to support the content area(s) and student learning.
• Good organization and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and collaborate with staff and classroom teachers.
• Work is assigned by Coordinator of Student Support or designated school personnel. This position requires application of position knowledge to effectively and efficiently instruct content area. Most decisions are made immediately without time for collaboration; supervisor is involved only in major decisions.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to instruct, communicate and use interpersonal skills; frequently required to compare, analyze, compute, synthesize, evaluate, compile and negotiate.
 
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or other related discipline. Special experience and training as determined by content area. Prior experience working with students preferred.
• Valid Colorado Teaching License, Special Providers License or Three or Five Year Colorado Substitute Authorization.
• Knowledge of child and adolescent development.
• Knowledge of identified subject area(s) and standards-based education.
• Advanced skills in assessment and the use of data to inform and support intervention strategies targeted to the needs of individual students.
• Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities.
