    Job Summary:
    Provide specialized services for students on an IEP for the disability of Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing in order support their access to and growth in the school setting. Participate in Individual Educational Program (IEP) development and implementation for students who are Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing in accordance with Harrison School District Two policies and procedures. Provide appropriate remedial and/or compensatory training to include, but not limited to; pre-teaching activities, adaptation of materials and strategies, hearing aid training language development and stimulation. American Sign Language as appropriate. Consult frequently with building and district personnel and parents as to the child's progress.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Participate in building student problem solving meetings for students with hearing losses.
    • Complete educational evaluations of the students who are Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing to include formal and informal testing, observations and interviews.
    • Participate as an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
    • Meeting Team member when deemed necessary.
    • Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists when appropriate.
    • Provide information and support to parents and families when appropriate.
    • Provide materials and/or information for the classroom teacher, special education teacher, and other related service providers.
    • Presents programs and in-services concerning hearing impairments to building and district level personnel as requested.
    • Maintain, with the audiologist, lists of referred, screened, and eligible students.
    • Make contacts with area professionals and agencies as deemed necessary.
    • May supervise student teachers in the field of teaching students who are Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing.
    • Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
     Qualifications:
    • Possesses or be eligible to receive a Colorado Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement.
    • Candidate must be endorsed in the content area, passed the PLACE or PRAXIS test in the content area, and/or have 24 semester credits in the content area to meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) “highly qualified” status.
    • Transcripts required.
    • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
