DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires a strongly self-motivated individual with high-level technical skills.  The selected candidate will work to maintain and repair kitchen equipment and fixtures across all Hampton City Schools – Food and Nutrition Services kitchens.  
 
• Performs a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of school kitchen equipment and fixtures
• Performs routine maintenance, inspections, and repair on tools, equipment, and assigned systems
• Coordinates work and support with contractors and internal maintenance staff as required; may involve monitoring project costs
• Point of contact for all departmental work orders and after-hours emergencies
• Establishes communication with building administrators and utilities as required
• Maintains files on critical blueprints and specifications
• Schedules city inspections and permits as needed
• Reviews and analyze expenditures for materials and tools
• Provides attendance records and work order reports to FNS timekeeper
• Follows Hampton City Schools’ policies/procedures, OSHA and EPA guidelines, and standard safety procedures
• Familiarity with National Electrical Code and National Fire and Protection Codes
• Constructs and repairs furniture and furnishings as needed
• Performs related work as required, or assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:           
Requires a high school diploma or GED Journeyman electrical license preferred; apprenticeship and/or documented technical training Not less than five years of experience in electrical maintenance and repair Must hold and maintain EPA Section 608 HVAC Certification for refrigeration usage Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions, and to read and interpret plans, diagrams, drawings, prints, schematics, etc. Knowledge of tools of the trade, utilizing meters, bending conduit, wiring methods, etc. Thorough knowledge of national, state, and local codes and regulations applicable to this trade Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies Knowledge of security and fire systems Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, bend/crawl, work in confined/high areas Requires a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position is responsible for providing leadership and operational support for HVAC services.
 
 
• Plan and oversee contracted heating and air conditioning maintenance, new construction projects, and repairs in accordance with industry and applicable safety standards.   Participate in planning meetings, read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications and drawings to determine job requirements.
• Evaluate projects, determine feasibility, scope of work, estimates material, and personnel requirements.
• Monitor and control heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), Energy Management and Control System (EMCS) and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) systems at applicable facilities.
• Maintain and upgrade Direct Digital Control (DDC) programs.
• Maintain as-built control records for district-wide system operation.
• Support craftsmen with troubleshooting HVAC, EMCS, IAQ, and electrical systems.  Inspect and recommend modifications for proper and efficient operation.
• Work closely with Maintenance Service’s dispatch to confirm work order validation through EMCS review.
• Coordinate building system schedules and operation with annual district needs such as: individual HVAC overrides, summer operation, special programs, weekend events, school rental requirements, etc.
• Schedule and inspect HVAC/refrigeration equipment installed by contractors.
• Review plans and provide design specifications and budget documents for new, retrofit, and replacement HVAC, EMCS, IAQ, and electrical systems.
• Respond to after-hours calls for troubleshooting.
• Perform related work as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 
• Completion of high school/GED required; completion of trade school courses in HVAC maintenance/ installation, apprenticeship program, or applied job experience which provides the required knowledge.
• Extensive knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used to install, repair, and maintain HVAC control systems/equipment, boiler operations, and associated control systems.
• Ability to read and analyze blueprints, wiring schematics, and manufacturer’s literature and the ability to effectively use a computer.
• EPA certified in handling refrigerants.
• Possess a valid Virginia driver license with an acceptable driving record and a valid master mechanical license.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work. 
• Ability to prepare estimates and order materials for maintenance and repair jobs; ability to exercise independent judgment in determining operations conditions; ability to plan, lay out, supervise and inspect the work of subordinates; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
• Ability to climb ladders, work on roofs with multiple stories in height, lift at least 75 pounds and work in dirty/dusty conditions.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time; agility to bend, stoop and reach overhead.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
• Performs maintenance and repair of plumbing tasks from blueprints, sketches and written or verbal instructions, such as:
  • Installation of new and repair/replacement of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, valves and sanitary drain systems.
  • Maintaining communications with building administrators and supervisors.
  • Establishing preventative maintenance programs for restroom fixtures, controls, pressurize vessels, gutters and the repair and replacement of related equipment.
  • Responding to after hour service calls.
  • Maintenance and repair of boiler equipment.
• Work will be performed according to the prescribed standards and technical procedures.
• Other related duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:           
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience in plumbing. Requires a valid Virginia Driver's License and favorable driving record. Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, lift 75 pounds, and work in extreme climates/temperatures.
