PRIMARY FUNCTION: Manages the Food Service Program at the local school level. Ensures high standards of food production, financial control, nutrition, nutrition education and student services in cooperation with Principal and Food Service Director.
PAY GRADE:
Food Service School Manager (Elem, Middle & High) - Starting Salary Range: $19.88 per hour.
Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified relevant experience.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt.
REPORTS TO: School Principal and Director of Food Services
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 Days
EDUCATION: High School Graduate or GED. Some college preferred. Core GADOE SL courses completed (SL 1, 2, 3, 4). Successfully completed or currently enrolled in district Manager-In-Training (MIT) Program.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum five (5) years experience in a school food service program or equivalent food service experience. Minimum two (2) years experience as a school Food Service Assistant Manager. Preference will be given to individuals with experience as a school food service manager.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Maintains ServSafe certification and meets GADOE Training-In-Depth requirements.
PROFICIENT SKILLS: Written and oral communication skills, planning, organization, money counting, basic math, and management skills; excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Be able to climb, kneel, stand, pull, grasp, see with visual acuity (color, depth perception and field of vision), walk, lift, hear, reach, push and talk. Also be able to withstand noise, extreme temperatures and mechanical, radiant energy, chemical and burn hazards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Participate in planning and evaluating sound menus.
- Order all food and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
- Assure that sanitation and safety practices in all phases of the school food service operation meet established standards.
- Maintain a system of accountability which meets federal, state and local requirements.
- Plan and supervise work assignments and work schedules.
- Train, supervise and evaluate food service staff in accordance with established procedures.
- Promote student and staff satisfaction by merchandising and serving meals in an attractive manner.
- Involve students, staff and community in school food service activities.
- Communicate concerns to appropriate supervisor about policies and procedures relating to all food service employees.
- Direct the preparation and service of meals for special functions and community activities.
- Implement a professional growth plan for self and encourage and assist subordinate personnel to continue professional development.
- Manage program in accordance with federal, state and local requirements.
- Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the School Principal or Food Service Director.
