JOB DESCRIPTION: SUBSTITUTE TEACHER (can also sub for paraprofessionals)
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides instruction at an appropriate instructional level that enables students to learn and achieve to the maximum of their abilities in the absence of the teacher or paraprofessional.
REPORTS TO: School Principal and Other Authorized School Administrator
PAY: Substitute teacher pay rate is $150/day ($200/day for long-term) and there is a one-month delay between first teaching assignment and first paycheck.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Implement plans left by the teacher of record as well as have a system for collecting and organizing resources.
- Keep the necessary records as indicated by the teacher of record or principal.
- Accept responsibility for every duty/activity for which the Classroom Teacher is responsible.
- Keep all students safe and maintain behavior and classroom management which is conducive to learning.
- Be aware of and practice good professional ethics including respect for confidential information.
- Exemplify at all times to the best of his/her ability those aspects of work relationships that will be a credit to all concerned.
- Respect the Teachers for whom they substitute as being experienced, professional and capable of guiding their work experiences and cheerfully accept suggestions for improvement.
- Dress appropriately and be neat in appearance.
- Be prompt and efficient in carrying out assigned tasks.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum high school diploma or GED required; college preferred. Must enjoy working with children.
