  •   PRIMARY FUNCTION:  To install, maintain, troubleshoot and provide a high level of support for the school district’s technology systems, including network and server infrastructure systems.  Assists in the smooth and efficient implementation of all technologies throughout the school district.  Provides a high level of technical and process support for the various technology related systems for schools and technology staff.

    PAY GRADE: Professional/Technical/Supervisory Non-Administrator Salary Schedule NMS  - Salary Range - $72,509.00 to $101,191.00.  Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified relevant experience.

    FLSA STATUS:  Exempt

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  231 Days (12 Months)

    REPORTS TO:  Director of Technology

    EDUCATION LEVEL:  
    1. Educational Level: Bachelor’s Degree in technology related fields or combination of training and experience.
    2. Experience:  Minimum four years of experience supporting networking technologies including, but not limited to: Microsoft Windows, Apple and Linux operating systems and hardware; Cisco and Meraki switching and routing; support of Internet connectivity and content filtering; wireless; voice over IP; video over IP; network and desktop security; support of business and educational applications.
    Certification/ Licenses preferred:  Cisco Certified Network Analyst or higher

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

    Routine physical activities required to fulfill job responsibilities.
    Medium Work:
    Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

    PROFICIENT SKILLS:  
    • Minimum of four years of experience supporting networking technologies including but not limited to Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, switching and routing, wireless, voice over IP and video over IP.
    • Organizational skills to support the management of multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Possesses personal characteristics and professional competencies that facilitate working with teachers, school system personnel, students and the general public
    • Maintains an understanding of current and emerging technologies that support both K-12 education and business systems, through self-study and use of available resources.
    • Must possess a high level of self-motivation, responsibility, and good judgment.
    • Flexibility of schedule to include after normal business hours, weekend or holiday work as required.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:             
    1. Communicates effectively with school system employees.
    1. Assists with the implementation, configuration, administration, documentation and support of complex, converged networks including the following: IP systems, fiber and copper cabling systems, VoIP, network video systems, cellular and wireless-based technologies. 
    1. Assists with the implementation, configuration, administration, documentation and support of the district’s network server environments including hardware support and maintenance, server virtualization, administering Active Directory, integration with other systems, data storage systems, data backups and other required future server technologies as they are identified.
    1. Provides technical support for the district’s email services.
    1. Assists with the implementation, configuration, administration, documentation and support of IP, analog and cellular telecommunications systems and projects.  Including, but not limited to, the districts IP telephony systems including routing and switching; network protocols; Telephony Call Managers; IP/IVR's; voicemail services and integration with email; IP call routing; survivable remote telephony; and district cellular phones
    1. Monitoring of server event logs and queues to improve and support network systems.
    1. Assists Technology Support Services Division staff when advanced troubleshooting is required.
    1. Assists in monitoring of security procedures and guidelines.  Monitors, evaluates and installs security patches, antivirus, and configuration compliance for all network devices and servers. Conducts assessments and follows security and mitigation plans to identify security risks. Applies network asset protection program methodologies.
    1. Configure and maintain servers for use in the instructional and administrative technology environment.
    1. Assists with evaluating, implementing and maintaining standards for technology hardware and software.
    1. Assists in maintaining all identified instructional and administrative resources in a stable and operational state.
    1. Maintains knowledge of current and emerging technologies in order to provide support.
    1. Maintains accurate documentation as it relates to support and inventory of network systems in order to meet identified support goals and identify areas for upgrades.
    1.  Monitors and ensures availability of network bandwidth.
    1. Provides after hours network and technology support as needed.  This may include times during evenings, weekends and district holidays.
    1. Obtains technical certifications as required.
    1. Performs other such duties as assigned.
