About the Position:
Chappaqua Central School District is excited to launch a brand-new World Language Program for our elementary students. We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and flexible World Language Teacher to help shape and implement this program from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to design the curriculum, create engaging lessons, and build a strong language foundation for our K-4 students.
In this program, students will explore world languages and cultures through meaningful, hands-on activities that foster communication, engagement, and a deep appreciation for global connections.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging elementary world language program.
Use best practices in language acquisition to make learning fun and interactive.
Create immersive experiences where students explore language and culture through storytelling, music, movement, and real-world connections.
Design activities that allow students to engage in authentic language-learning experiences.
Collaborate with administrators and teachers to integrate language learning into the broader curriculum.
Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
Serve as an advocate and leader in establishing this new program within our school community.
Qualifications:
Valid New York State Teaching Certification in World Language with a K-6 extension (required).
Experience teaching world languages to elementary students (preferred).
Strong knowledge of language acquisition strategies for young learners.
Ability to design curriculum and establish a brand-new language program.
Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm for language instruction.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, staff, and parents.
