Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated leave replacement position of Band Teacher at Seven Bridges Middle School from 3/12/25 - 4/28/25.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Develops and actualizes an instrumental music program consistent with school district vision, goals and objectives for students in Grades 5-8.
- Promotes a instrumental classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, based on student's musical readiness levels.
- Develops balanced music program and lessons to organize class time so that students have adequate time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
- Utilizes repertoire of all types of music, as appropriate.
- Familiar with all band related instruments including, but not limited to, the flute, clarinet, trumpet, french horn and percussion.
- Familiarity with preparing students for various concerts through small group instruction.
- Organize, teach, conduct, and rehearse with performances thoughout the year, a Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band.
- Works collaboratively with the Performing Arts Department.
- Teaches courses in other music areas such as music theory and digital music.
- Fosters a positive and inclusive classroom environment that prioritizes the social and emotional well-being of students and nurtures a sense of belonging.
- Implements evidence-based social-emotional learning strategies to promote emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the RULER approach is preferred.
- Utilizes current educational research to inform instructional practices, ensuring lessons are grounded in evidence-based methods.
- Implements formative assessments regularly to gauge student understanding.
- Incorporates formative and summative data analysis into lesson planning to tailor instruction and address individual learning needs.
- Infuses culturally relevant practices into curriculum design, ensuring that lessons reflect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all students.
- Integrates diverse perspectives and voices into instructional materials and resources to broaden students' understanding of the world.
- Engages in regular, collaborative professional development to enhance collective knowledge and skills, reinforcing the idea that the team's efficacy is greater than individual efforts alone.
- Uses NYS standards as a foundation for setting clear learning goals and expectations for students, providing a roadmap for their academic progress.
Certification/Experience:
- New York State Certification as a Music Teacher Gr. K - 12.
