- Educational Requirements: Must hold appropriate Indiana Administrative Certification
- Experience: A minimum of five years successful elementary (grades K-6) teaching experience. At least three years of experience in administrative or other supervising capacity is preferred.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS/PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer and supervise the educational program in the school and provide direct leadership over staff and students.
- Demonstrated ability to work with personnel in the instructional program and others; adaptable to change as needed to improve the instructional program; capable of budgeting time effectively and willing to work as needed to complete assigned duties; ability to reach logical conclusions and make high quality decisions based on available information; ability to recognize when a decision is required and to act quickly; ability to perform under pressure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide leadership to positively impact school personnel to strive for exemplary academic, social emotional, and behavioral standards so as to provide the best possible opportunities for student growth and development.
- Oversee school leadership teams, and the school improvement plan.
- Oversee student attendance and reporting of attendance records and parent notifications.
- Supervise transportation and operations of the school.
- Oversee student activities, programs, convocations, attend special school sponsored activities, P.T.O. functions, and special events.
- Coordinate facility rentals and usage, and supervision of maintenance of building and grounds.
- Oversee the implementation and supervision, including staffing, case conferences, referrals for evaluation,of the building special education program, RTI/MTSS, English language program and plans, and 504 plans.
- Ensure official communications are accurate, demonstrate sound judgement and promote the mission of ACSC.
- Ensure all state level reports are submitted and maintained.
- Oversee school safety including working with the district School Safety Coordinator on drills, updates, and implementation of safety protocols.
- Support curriculum development and consistent implementation across classrooms.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and collaboration of the Avon PLC process across the school by all certified staff.
- Order supplies, textbooks, equipment and materials necessary for the operation of the school.
- Supervise substitute teachers and student teachers.
- Be responsible for staff professional development.
- Create the master class schedule.
- Evaluate certified and non-certified staff.
- Provide support and leadership for school leaders.
- Be an example of exemplary adult behavior for staff and students.
- Project a genuine care and concern for all staff and students.
- Be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Asst. Superintendent.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
