Position:  Substitute Crossing Guard
Reports To:  Administrative Sergeant
Start Date:  August 29, 2024
Compensation:  $20.18 per hour worked

Summary
The Wethersfield Public Schools has various openings for Substitute Crossing Guards. This is a part time/seasonal position that will work up to 20 hours per week and will be under general supervision of the Administrative Sergeant. Essential duty includes monitoring and controlling traffic flow to create safe conditions for directing and escorting children across designated intersections and or cross walks.  Must be available to work any day school is in session
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assist children crossing the street at assigned times and locations to ensure a safe roadway crossing. 
• Display positive role model characteristics by demonstrating to children appropriate street crossing skills and behavior. 
• Provide directions to the general public
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.  
• The following qualifications are from Section 7D.03 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, entitled Qualifications of Adult Crossing Guards:  average intelligence, good physical condition, including sight, hearing, and ability to move and maneuver quickly, mental alertness, neat appearance, good character, dependability, and an overall sense of responsibility for the safety of students.

The Wethersfield Public Schools are seeking candidates for the role of Lunch Period Aide at various Elementary Schools. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated professional with superior communication skills to fill this role.  This position is vital to our schools as our aides have regular and constant interaction with our students and staff. 
 
Position:  Lunch and Recess Aide
School:  District
Reports To:  Principal
Start Date:  Immediately
Hours: 10:45am – 1:45pm (Times may vary around this window and depending on the school - generally 3 hours per day)
Compensation:  $17.34 per hour worked

Responsibilities:
• Serve as adult supervision in the cafeteria during the lunch period
• Encourage students to behave in a safe, positive and respectful manner
• Monitor and immediately address student issues that require intervention and corrective action
• Constantly move throughout cafeteria to support and interact with students in a positive and friendly manner
• Escort and supervise students during lunch and recess, ensuring safe and appropriate play during the recess period
• Work collaboratively with both the school staff and cafeteria staff
• Report issues and opportunities for improvement to school administration
Qualifications:
• Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to model a respectful and courteous demeanor for our students
• Willingness and ability to work both indoors and outdoors as required by the position
• Ability to lift, bend, walk and observe in support of our students
