QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification
 
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 
• Texas Teacher Certification appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment.

Special Knowledge/Skills:
 
• Ability to educate with age-appropriate language and teaching methods
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Instructional Strategies
 
1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
2. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
3. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
4. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
5. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
6. Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
 
Student Growth and Development
 
7. Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress in meeting recommended learning outcomes.
8. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the school administrator.
8. Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.

10. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

JOB SUMMARY

Clean and maintain district facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.Under general supervision, performs custodial duties and ensures sanitation control for COVID-19 and any other environmental . Maintains offices, buildings, or plant facilities in clean and orderly condition. Sweeps, mops, polishes floors, removes trash, and cleans furniture. Makes minor maintenance repairs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Cleaning

1.    Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms and other area assigned such as cafeteria, classrooms, athletic areas, etc.
2.    Keep restrooms clean and well supplied at all times.
3.    Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.
4.    Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
5.    Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.
    

Maintenance and Repair

5.    Assist with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs.
6.    Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff. Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to principal.
7.    Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
8.    Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by principal.
9.    Assist in setting up facilities for special events
10.  Replace light bulbs and tubes, ceiling tiles and other building supply items which are provided for installation by the custodial staff.

Safety

10.    Assist with opening and closing building each school day checking to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
11.    Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
12.    Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
13.    Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
14.    Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
15.    Know the opening and closing procedures of the campus to include operation of the alarm system.

• Tools/Equipment Used: Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed eater.
• Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reaching
• Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
• Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours

WORK A DAY A WEEK AT CASTILLO, NSTEM AND PASADENA 2 DAYS AT BROADWAY

Responsible for implementation of health programs, health counseling with pupils, parents, and school personnel, provision of preventive health services, augmentation of health education programs, and liaison with the school community.  The school nurse at 2950 Broadway is responsible to verify reporting ang programs are within compliance with TEA or other agencies.

EDUCATION License Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (R.N.) with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) Currently licensed as a LVN and/or R.N. in the State of Texas EXPERIENCE Minimum experience requirement - 12 months. NOTE: RYSS follows the Texas Board of Nursing recommendation that a newly licensed nurse not practice in an independent setting for a period of 12-18 months post-licensure

QUALIFICATIONS
The ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, both internally and externally.
The ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, drive and/or be mobile.
Valid Texas driver’s license with applicable insurance coverage.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participates in the formulation of campus health program goals and objectives.  Goals will be for all RYSS locations.
2. Provides direct health care, emergency first aid and care, and related health services according to RYSS policies and procedures.
3. Provides preventive health care by: providing appraisals, screening programs, referral and follow-up; recognizing, reporting, and using control measures on communicable diseases; and monitoring and providing follow-up on immunization needs.
4. Provides families with information on health and medical resources and assists families to access medical care.
5. Conducts health counseling, makes home visits, and follows through on health problems as needed.
6. Conducts specific health instruction for students, parents, and staff and serves as a resource to staff regarding health instruction.
7. Leads weekly zoom meetings with all locations to ensure every location is maintaining safe practices. 8.  Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
