We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Director of Secondary Schools Academic to lead our secondary schools in achieving academic excellence. This role is pivotal in driving the improvement of academic scores, increasing student enrollment, and ensuring that all students reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

Academic Leadership:
 
• Develop and implement a comprehensive academic strategy focused on improving student performance and academic scores across all secondary schools.
• Set high expectations for student achievement and create a culture of continuous improvement.
• Analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions.
• Collaborate with school leaders to develop and refine curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices that align with best practices and state standards.

Professional Development:
 
• Design and deliver professional development programs for teachers and school leaders to improve instructional practices and student learning.

Student Support:
 
• Develop and implement strategies to support diverse learners, including English language learners, students with disabilities, and gifted students.
• Ensure that all students have access to high-quality instruction and resources that meet their individual needs.
• Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that supports student engagement and success.

Collaboration and Communication:
 
• Work closely with the Chief Schools Officer, senior leadership team, and school leaders to align academic goals with the overall mission and vision of the organization.
• Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and community members, about academic progress and initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including educational organizations, universities, and community groups.

Compliance and Reporting:
 
• Ensure that all academic programs and practices comply with state and federal regulations.
• Prepare and present reports on academic performance to the board of directors and other stakeholders.
• Stay informed about current trends and research in education and incorporate best practices into the academic strategy.

Supervision and Team Leadership:
 
• Supervise a small team of academic staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

Student Enrollment:
 
• Develop and implement strategies to increase student enrollment across secondary schools.

• Collaborate school-level enrollment initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:
 
• Oversee secondary curriculum alignment to ensure consistency and rigor across all schools.
• Manage College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) initiatives to prepare students for post-secondary success.
• Lead Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs to provide students with practical skills and career pathways.
• Coordinate higher education testing, including SAT, ACT, and AP exams.
• Supervise Exceptional Education Services to support students with special needs.
• Oversee School Support Services to ensure students have access to necessary resources and support.
• Implement and monitor Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs to foster student well-being.
• Serve as a mentor to secondary teachers, providing guidance and support for professional growth.
• Manage grant initiatives and funding to ensure compliance with grant requirements

Qualifications:
 
• Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field required; Doctorate preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in education, with at least 5 years in a leadership role at the secondary level.
• Proven track record of improving academic scores and student outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional practices, and assessment methods.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Human Resources Program Management
• Assist in developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures in assigned area.

Employment

• Assist with the district’s compensation program including preparing and reviewing job descriptions, salary surveys, and position reclassifications.
• Make recommendations for salary administration and placement of new hires.
• Assist with the coordination of the district’s leave, health insurance, optional employee benefits, workers’ compensation, and unemployment compensation benefit programs including overseeing relationship with insurance vendors and third-party administrators.
• Act as liaison between employees and insurance carrier’s claims office and resolve administrative problems with insurance carrier representatives.

• Assist with annual open enrollment process, including making group presentations and preparing, distributing, and receiving materials and forms. Process all employee benefit enrollment and change forms within required time limits to meet payroll deadlines.

Employee Relations
• Assist with identifying and responding to employee issues; work in collaboration with district leadership to ensure preemptive and effective employee communications.
• Assist with the administration of the employee grievance procedure adopted by the board. Assist director of human resources with investigation, analysis, and decision-making process regarding personnel problems and/or other related policy issues.
• Support directors, officers, employees and other government agencies on employment, record keeping, retirement, grievance and other personnel matters and procedures.
• Assist with annual research regarding employee satisfaction, morale, and communications. Monitor employee retention and turnover through analysis of data and exit interviews. Coordinate effective districtwide employee recognition programs.

Records
• Support personnel records management and help ensure compliance with the state records management program. 
• Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.

Other
• Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations on HR and management issues to employees.

Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success (RYSS) is seeking a dynamic, high-energy, and experienced educator to serve as the Early Childhood Director. This role involves ensuring that each school site is prepared for students, parents, and visitors. The Early Childhood Director acts as the instructional leader for each site, leading in instructional leadership, teacher coaching and evaluation, school management, school culture, community engagement, and budgetary responsibilities.
The Director is responsible for the academic outcomes of students and must implement policies and practices that align with the RYSS mission and vision for academic instruction, student experience, and adult culture. Additionally, Early Childhood Director collaborates with the RYSS Academic team to implement school improvement strategies, enhance student outcomes, and provide access to the Tejano Center and community-based programming. The Director is also responsible for building a highly effective team dedicated to helping each student achieve personal and academic success using proven best practices for teaching and learning across all sites. The Early Childhood Director is also responsible for student recruitment as well as accurate PEIMS reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
 
• Master’s degree in education administration
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsement in Early Childhood
• Valid Texas school administrator certificate

Experience:
 
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a classroom teacher and 3 years in school and/or district leadership roles

POSITION SUMMARY:

The ACAM Pathways to Citizenship Collaborative (PCC) was designed to resource community-based nonprofits to pilot innovative strategies for outreaching and navigating eligible individuals along naturalization pathways to successfully obtain U.S. citizenship. Selected for their capacity to reach eligible participants, design naturalization infrastructure and scale programming, PCC partners will co-create an outreach and navigation program that helps people understand the benefits of citizenship and provide supportive services to help them complete the steps necessary to become U.S. Citizens. The program will provide grassroots outreach, education, and culturally competent navigation through a continuum of new and existing naturalization and barrier removal services. The critical metric of success is the number of eligible individuals who obtain citizenship through naturalization.

While there are approximately 300,000 people in the Greater Houston area who are eligible to become citizens, only 24,000 (less than 10%) were naturalized in 2021. Too many people are missing out on the critical benefits of citizenship such as the right to vote and hold public office; to hold a U.S. passport, travel abroad freely, and end the threat of deportation; to have newborn children become U.S. citizens and to reunite their families within the U.S.; and to receive federal grants and scholarships and to benefit from U.S. tax laws.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
 
• Conduct active outreach and community education to promote the benefits of citizenship and recruit attendees for group or one-on-one citizenship Information Sessions.
   
• Coordinate all logistics of Information Sessions including but not limited to, promotion, venue, hospitality, enrolling attendees in PCC and follow up/referrals.
   
• Enroll eligible individuals and those likely to be eligible to begin the citizenship application process within 3 months. 
   
• Work with the local USCIS office to conduct targeted outreach to identify and recruit individuals that may be at any point in the naturalization process.
   
• Work with community-based agencies providing services like English language classes, civics classes, legal clinics, etc. to conduct targeted outreach to identify and recruit individuals that may be at any point in the naturalization process.
   
• Once enrolled in the PCC, the Citizenship Program Navigator (CPN) will provide navigation services to guide clients toward citizenship including, which may include, but is not limited to:
   
  • Barrier removal such as transportation or childcare assistance (while taking the test or conducting the interview), assistance with locating funding or reduction/waiver for the citizenship application fees, etc. PCC funds may not be used for the direct payment of the application fee. Citizenship Program Navigator (CPN) will work with other community partners and agencies that have funds designated to assist clients that are not eligible for a fee waiver.
     
  • Referral to and/or provision of assistance with interview preparation
     
  • Referral for legal services as needed
     
  • Assistance with the naturalization application and collecting supporting documents as needed
     
  • Warm Referral to English Classes
     
  • Provision of on-site English Classes
     
  • Warm Referral to civics classes designed to pass the Civics Test
     
  • Provision of on-site Civics Test preparation classes (may be hosted remotely by qualified staff)
     
  • Warm Referral to citizenship application sessions/N-400 clinics
     
  • Provision of on-site citizenship application sessions/N-400 clinics by qualified staff or through legal services provider partnerships that provide on-site legal clinics
     
• Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders and provide technical assistance to program partner staff
   
• Stay apprised of relevant immigration law and policy to connect local programmatic, communications and policy efforts with national efforts to increase access to citizenship
   
• Attend monthly continuous quality improvement (CQI) sessions with partner agency staff, including peer-review of program files, policies and procedures
   
• Regularly provide agency updates for a referral resource guide that contains resources for citizenship information, preparation, and legal assistance services to partners
   
• Organize meetings, maintain required correspondence, retain required records
   
• Generate reports for all relevant stakeholders, funders, and nonprofit organizations

EDUCATION/TRAINING
 
• Bachelor’s degree required

EXPERIENCE
 
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
   
• Experience with providing assistance with the N-400 Naturalization and application and ancillary forms and requests for evidence
   
• Knowledge of classes English (reading, writing, speaking), Civics (US History & Government) of the citizenship test and the Naturalization Interview
   
• Experience in the immigration policy field, preferably at the state and local levels

The Outreach and Engagement Liaison will be part of the inaugural Strategy & External Affairs team that is charged with elevating the TCCC/RYSS brand, and building capacity and impact by identifying and securing resources, including but not limited to partnerships, volunteers, as well as public, private, and philanthropic funds.  The Outreach and Engagement Liaison plays a critical role in the TCCC/RYSS school expansion plans.
