Nature and Scope of Job:   
 
Provide efficient and safe transportation of students to and from school activities.  To perform all related duties as assigned.
 
  1.       Able to demonstrate the safe and efficient operation of an OTR bus.
  2.       Must meet and maintain all performance responsibilities, legal requirements and physical requirements for bus drivers.
  3.       Must be familiar with state geography, towns/cities, roads and school locations.
  4.       Must be able to access road and travel and weather information to and from destinations.
  5.       Must follow proper reporting and record keeping of financial information, use of vouchers and credit cards.
  6.       Must conduct emergency evacuation drills and all trip safety requirements.
  7.       Must maintain proper student/staff relations.
  8.       Must be able to conduct minor maintenance (fueling etc.)/repair of vehicles.
  9.       Must maintain a Wyoming Commercial drivers license with air brakes (where applicable) passenger and S endorsements.
10.       Maintains insurability according to District’s insurance carriers criteria.
11.       Uses positive verbal and nonverbal communication and interaction skills when working with students, parents and all district personnel.
12.       In cooperation with sponsors (coaches, teachers, chaperones) maintains student discipline on bus utilizing the Districts student discipline procedures.
13.       Conducts pre trip/post trip and maintains a clean bus.
14.       Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, parents/guardians in any public setting.
15.       Route duties as assigned.
16.       Other duties as assigned.
 
Other Functions:
 
  1.       Attends training as scheduled.
  2.       Washes, cleans inside and fuels bus as necessary.
  3.       Monitors two way radio and cell phones as necessary.
  4.       Utilizes proper OSHA techniques when handling body fluids (blood born pathogens), when handling chemicals (Hazard Communication/Right to Know).
  5.       Able to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid (Standard) training and certification.  Must possess the range of motion to successfully administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid.
  6.       Responsible for assisting in the training of new drivers at the direction of the Safety/Training Coordinator.

Nature and Scope of Job: 
 
 
To implement on a daily basis all assistance toward student behavioral control on bus so that driver can focus on driving, and students can have  safe and pleasant transportation to and from school.
 
Job Functions: 
 
            Essential Functions: 
 
  1.       Learn the bus route, bus stops and names of the students at each stop and the schools they attend.
  2.       Compile a master list of all students riding the bus to include emergency contact, emergency phone number, home address, and any pertinent health and/or behavioral issues of the students.
  3.       Facilitates in the supervision and management on the bus of all students in collaboration with the bus driver during the course of transportation to and from the school.
  4.       Assists the bus driver with pre-trip and the maintenance of a clean and orderly bus on a daily basis.
  5.        Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, or parents/guardian in any public setting and choose the appropriate time, place, and supervisor to discuss problems.
  6.       Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills when working with students, parents, and all district personnel at all times.
  7.       Fills out School Bus Incident Report to Parents form and requests bus tapes for backup documentation from the tape tech and conveys these materials to appropriate school administrator.
  8.       Assigns seats and keeps seating chart for elementary and other students where appropriate.
  9.       Demonstrates a sincere interest in children and their welfare daily.
10.       Attends training as scheduled.
11.       Utilizes proper OSHA procedures when handling body fluids, chemicals etc..
12.       May assist in the operation of two way radio.
 
            Other Functions: 
 
  1.       Intervenes with students, in collaboration with the bus driver or administrator, in crisis/emergency situations.
  2.       Seeks appropriate additional tasks when assigned work is complete.
  3.       Performs any other duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope of Job:   


To represent Sweetwater County School District - Transportation Department in the daily transporting of students to and from school and all related functions.  To assure the mission and philosophy of the district and department are supported throughout the position's area of responsibility.


  1.       Supports daily the Department Mission of "Getting student to school ready to learn."
  2.       Maintains the Wyoming commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement and follows its requirements.
  3.       Meets current district vehicle insurance qualifications for driving coverage.  Current requirement is "less than 3 moving violations in 3 years".    
  4.       Maintains insurability according to district's insurance carrier criteria.
  5.       Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills when working with students, parents, and all district personnel at all times.           
  6.       Attends employee and department meetings as necessary.
  7.       Maintains accurate records of route and time for payroll purposes.
  8.       Maintains student discipline on bus utilizing district student discipline procedures.
  9.       Checks all gauges and listens for noises not pertaining to the normal operation of the bus.
10.       Maintains a clean bus.
11.       Demonstrates a sincere interest in children and their welfare daily.
12.       Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, or parent/guardians in any public setting and chooses the appropriate time, place and supervisor to discuss problems.
13.       Reports all accidents and completes required reports.

Other Functions:


  1.       Completes paperwork requirements within time parameters established.
  2.       Attends training as schedules.
  3.       Performs daily walk-arounds and completes report.
  4.       Washes buses as required.
  5.       Makes self available on varies schedule for curriculum and field activities.
  6.       Operates two-way radio and uses proper radio communications.
  7.       Monitors radio at all times while driving.
  8.       Utilizes proper OSHA procedures necessary when handling body fluids.
  9.       Can assist in interviewing  and recommendation of new personnel.
10.       Performs any other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director.
11.       Provides feedback and recommendations to the Director of Transportation for overall effectiveness of the transportation department.
12.       Able to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid(Standard) training and certification.

            Ability to work in all weather conditions to include hot, cold, extremely cold, wet, rainy, and dusty.
            Drive in a variety of road conditions including dry, wet, icy, or snow.
            Possess physical and mental capability to be out in any weather common to Wyoming.
            Ability to drive dirt or gravel roads.
            Ability to withstand noisy conditions caused from engines running,  
            noise from radio, student noise  and two-way radio.
            Possible gas and diesel fumes.
