Job Title: BOCES Full Time Building Substitute Teacher- One Year Only Location: Overland Elementary Early Childhood Education Program Department: Varies Reports To: Building Principal / Human Resource Director and Sub Coordinator / Elwood Terms of Contract: Contract Employee For Student Contact Days During the Academic School Year Pay: $23.58/hour Nature and Scope of Job : To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher. Job Functions Essential Functions: 1. Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building. 2. Reviews with the principal, department head, or team leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day. 3. Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which is assigned. 4. Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher’s Guide as prepared by the absent teacher. 5. Consults as appropriate, with the building principal, department head, or team leader before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher’s Guide. 6. Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class, during lunch, and recess periods. 7. Reports in writing, on the form provided by the school secretary, on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day. 8. Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates. 9. Other duties as assigned. Exposure to loud noises. The Overland Elementary Early Childhood Education Program is licensed as a childcare facility through the Department of Family Services. As part of the licensing requirements, any staff, including substitutes, must complete the following requirements BEFORE substitute teaching at Overland. These are in addition to acquiring and maintaining the Wyoming PTSB substitute permit requirements and District substitute hiring forms. 1. Background checks - The State of Wyoming requires a federal background check to be processed through the Department of Family Services on form CCL-108 Child Care. Contact the Police Station or Detention Center to get your digital fingerprints for $8, then bring your printed cards to Overland School to complete the required cover letter and the State of Wyoming DCI Waiver. 2. TB Risk Assessment – A TB Risk Assessment form is required (see email attachment) and must be filled out and returned to Stephanie Madsen, Overland Secretary, at 307-352-3430 or madsens@sw1.k12.wy.us. If it is determined a person is at risk, then a TB test may be required. 3. Central Registry Screen – A Central Registry Screening is required to determine if a person is on the child abuse registry. Please contact Stephanie Madsen, Overland Secretary, at 307-352-3430 or madsens@sw1.k12.wy.us to initiate the Central Registry screenings. Please contact her with your name, cell phone #, and personal email. She will then enter your information in the online Central Registry system, and you will receive an email from the Wyoming Department of Family Services with a link to enter the required information in the online database. Once the screening is complete, DFS will send Carrie Ellison, Overland Principal, a secure email with the results. 4. Training – In addition to the Public School Works Training required by the District, substitutes must also sign up and complete specific classes through the Wyoming Statewide Training and Resource System (STARS) online training system. First, register for a STARS account at https://wyregistry.org/. Once your account is set up, you will be assigned a Registry ID number (found in the MY PROFILE tab in your STARS account).
