    Salary Classification:  Paraprofessional IV (Daycare time) and V Schedule (Special education time)


    Nature and Scope of Job:
    To implement on a daily basis all assistance toward maximizing student learning as deemed necessary and/or required to meet the social emotional, behavioral, academic, and personal needs of special education students under direction of the supervising resource room teacher.


    Job Functions:  The Paraprofessional will assist the Teacher in the preschool and daycare in providing a learning environment and facilitating experiences for the children to develop socially, cognitively, physically and emotionally within developmentally appropriate practices.  The Paraprofessional supports the Teacher and students in the daycare and Rock Springs High School and will be working directly with the children on a daily basis, interacting and modeling desired behaviors for the children. 

    Essential Job Functions:

     
    1. Assist in the daycare classroom. 
    2. Assist in implementing teacher's plans for students in all academic/behavioral/personal areas, as directed by supervising resource room Teacher on a daily basis.
    3. Provides student accommodations and/or modifications as outlined by individual students IEP’s.
    4. Assists supervising resource room Teacher in collecting data on individual student’s IEP goals and objectives.
    5. Facilitates in the supervision and classroom management of all students as directed and consistent with the supervising Teacher's management plan.
    6. Assists the supervising Teacher with individual student hygiene, which may include toileting, personal hygiene, and feeding tasks when appropriate.
    7. Provides supervision within the educational setting.
    8. Provides instructional and behavioral supports to students as documented in individual students IEP.
    9. Assists the supervising teacher in preparing the classroom, materials, and equipment for use in specific instructional programs on a daily basis.
    10.  Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, parent/guardian in any public setting, classroom or area where students or uninvolved staff are involved.
    11. Selects an appropriate place, time, with the supervisor to discuss situations.
    12. Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills when working with students, district, personnel, and co-workers at all times.
    13. Locates and organizes any instructional materials as directed by the supervising teacher.
    14. Corrects assignments as directed by the supervising teacher.
    15. Intervenes with students, at the direction of the teacher or administrator, in crisis/emergency situations.
    16. Seeks appropriate additional tasks when assigned work is completed.
    17. Cooperate with other staff and classroom groups to maintain the smooth functioning of the classroom and program, which at times may require changes to meet the needs of the children.
    18. Work with other teachers, teacher assistants, and volunteers to use and develop their skills and abilities in planning and carrying out classroom activities.
    19. Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment.  Assure that classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
    20. Use the playground and gym as an extension of the classroom and assure the playground and gym are safe.
    21. In consultation with coaching and feedback, develops own professional work goals and training plan.
    22. Possess and maintain licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
    23. Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality as required of position.
    24. Performs any other duties as assigned.
    25. Participates in additional training to increase knowledge base.

    Education, License, Certification or Formal Training:
    Sub certification (exclusive to School District Preschool and Daycare), preferred Associate degree in early childhood education, child development or related field or a Child Development Associate Certificate or (CDA). Experience working with birth thru elementary-aged children is preferred.
