Nature and Scope of Job:
The Trade and Technical Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in industrial arts and agriculture, fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment. This role involves designing and implementing curriculum-aligned lesson plans, assessing student progress, and promoting skill development in technical trades.
Job Functions
Essential Responsibilities:
Curriculum & Instruction
Develop and implement instructional plans that cater to diverse student needs and align with Sweetwater County School District Number One curriculum.
Utilize effective teaching strategies, materials, and technologies to achieve learning objectives.
Prepare detailed weekly lesson plans correlating with curriculum goals.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and seek specialized support when necessary.
Clearly communicate lesson objectives and expectations in an organized, concise manner.
Classroom & Student Engagement
Establish a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment conducive to student success.
Design learning experiences that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skills.
Encourage student participation in hands-on activities, reinforcing theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
Support students in developing self-confidence, decision-making abilities, and other essential life skills.
Implement safety procedures to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
School & Community Collaboration
Maintain open and professional communication with students, colleagues, parents, and community members.
Uphold and enforce district policies, regulations, and procedures.
Actively participate in vocational curriculum meetings, departmental meetings, and school events.
Attend parent-teacher conferences and staff meetings as required.
Professionalism & Compliance
Maintain accurate and legally compliant records of student progress, attendance, and instructional activities.
Engage in continuous professional development to enhance instructional effectiveness and technical knowledge.
Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to student success.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of industrial arts, agriculture, and related technical fields.
Understanding of child and adolescent development, classroom management, and instructional strategies.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency in technology and digital tools for instruction and student assessment.
Ability to integrate safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Education, License, Certification or Formal Training:
Possess all certificates required for the State of Wyoming.
Possess at a minimum a Bachelor's Degree.
Continue to pursue graduate level classes for professional growth.
Equipment Used:
Instructional duties require familiarity with and operation of the following tools and equipment:
Welding Equipment: AC/DC Welder, Oxy-Acetylene Welder, MIG Welder
Metalworking Tools: Grinder, Metal Cut-Off Saw, Metal Band Saw
Woodworking Tools: Table Saw, Jig Saw, Radial Arm Saw, Router, Wood Lathe, Jointer, Drill Press, Planer, Sander
Hand & Power Tools: Various shop tools used in industrial arts and agricultural education
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds and carry materials up to 50 feet.
Ability to push up to 200 pounds and pull up to 100 pounds for short distances.
Dexterity to handle tools, equipment, and instructional materials.
Work Environment:
Primarily indoor classroom/shop setting with occasional outdoor work.
Exposure to loud noise (up to 90 decibels), dust, and variable temperatures.
Frequent handling of tools, machinery, and safety equipment.
