Position Overview: The Music Teacher is responsible for delivering a high-quality music education that fosters creativity, musical skills, and an appreciation for the arts. This role includes planning and implementing engaging lessons aligned with district curriculum, assessing student progress, and contributing to a positive and collaborative school culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Student Learning
Design and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that accommodates diverse student needs, interests, and abilities.
Utilize innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Foster students' musical growth through instruction in vocal and instrumental music, music theory, and appreciation.
Develop lesson plans that align with district and state curriculum standards.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
Differentiate instruction to support varying skill levels and learning styles.
Classroom & Behavior Management
Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student success.
Implement effective classroom management strategies that encourage respect, discipline, and active participation.
Maintain high standards of student conduct during class, on school grounds, and at school-sponsored events.
Collaboration & Communication
Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student achievement.
Communicate expectations, goals, and progress to students and families in a clear and professional manner.
Participate in school and district professional development activities to enhance instructional effectiveness.
Attend parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and curriculum planning sessions as required.
School & Community Engagement
Plan and direct musical performances, concerts, and extracurricular activities that enrich students' educational experience.
Serve as a mentor and advocate for students, encouraging participation in music programs and fostering a love for the arts.
Engage with the school community through events, partnerships, and outreach efforts.
Qualifications & Skills:
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and transport equipment as needed.
Ability to push/pull equipment up to 200 pounds.
Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor environments, occasionally in extreme temperatures.
Ability to tolerate noise levels up to 90 decibels.
