GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Specialist will facilitate academic and behavior support through problem solving and MTSS. In collaboration with principals, Intervention Team (IT), School Improvement Team (SIT), and other stakeholders, this position supports the goal of improving student achievement through encouraging system-wide and local school initiatives to increase student learning. This position will integrate MTSS academic and behavior components through coaching, co-teaching, PD, and providing early intervention services for students needing supplemental support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist IT and SIT in the evaluation of student/school needs and development of appropriate behavior interventions and supports.
2. Assist IT and SIT with the analysis and charting of individual student data and problem solve appropriate academic and behavior interventions based on this data.
3. Assist schools in utilizing school-based data to determine the effectiveness of instruction at the core and supplemental instruction/intervention levels.
4. Assist schools in understanding screening, diagnostic and progress monitoring data for the purpose of identification of struggling learners, instruction/intervention design, and students’ response to interventions, respectively.
5. Mentor school-based IT and SIT through development and implementation of MTSS at all tiers.
6. Serve as a liaison to administrators, teachers, counselors, school social workers, school psychologists, and other stakeholders to develop appropriate academic and behavior interventions and supports through MTSS.
7. Provide ongoing school support in order to monitor the implementation of MTSS and assist teams with academic and behavior resources and strategies at all tiers.
8. Consult with district instructional division, student support personnel, and special populations’ staff regarding strategies and techniques to foster progress of struggling students.
9. Collaborate with the instructional division and facilitate professional development in MTSS based on schools’ needs.
10. Participate in district, local and state professional development and meetings to build and enhance skills.
11. Serve as a liaison with local, ISD, state, and priority school support personnel to facilitate supplemental support for students.
12. Provide support to building level staff in the implementation of school-wide supplemental support.
13. Perform other Title I work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCES:
1. A Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution
2. A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or single subject teaching credential or certification if teaching a specialized subject
3. A minimum of three years of successful and relevant teaching experience
4. Previous successful experience with adult learners
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
6. Some experience with High School sports
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Attend any training as mandated by the state, the district State and Federal Programs Director, and/or the building administrator
