Purpose:
Jesuit education, also known as Ignatian education, is an approach to education inspired by the teachings and principles of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), a Catholic religious order. Jesuit education is known for its emphasis on intellectual rigor, moral and ethical development, and the holistic formation of individuals. Jesuit education is not limited to Catholic students, and our own and many more Jesuit institutions welcome students of various religious backgrounds. The principles of Jesuit education have been influential in the development of a well-rounded, values-based approach to education that extends beyond the classroom and into the broader community.
Seattle Preparatory School seeks a visionary and organized Ignatian leader to serve as Director of Institutional Research and Academic Coordination / Summer Programs Principal. This role will entail envisioning and conducting strategic research and evaluation studies that will advance data-informed decisions, programs, and initiatives across the school. This position also coordinates key academic projects including the master scheduling process. This dynamic leader will serve as Summer Programs Principal, overseeing all of Seattle Prep’s academic, co-curricular, and enrichment summer programs. This includes growing and enhancing offerings for current and prospective students, planning and supervising summer programs, and evaluating the efficacy of summer programs. In close collaboration with administration, faculty, staff, and members of the greater education community, this leader will develop a newly designed role to ensure Ignatian excellence across programs and throughout the summer. This is a full-time, 12 months per year position with holidays and vacation time off.
Essential Functions:
Institutional Research and Academic Coordination
- Provide leadership and direction in the design, prioritization, reporting, and implementation of research and assessment activities in support of school-wide decision making and planning.
- Plan and lead data collection and analysis efforts to support strategic initiatives, program efficacy, the student experience, and other priorities. Ensure that data collection and reporting processes are reliable, valid, ethical and systematic.
- Collect and manage student and institutional data (including student demographics, standardized test scores, AP scores, HSPT scores, grades, activities, honors, awards, schedules).
- Create and analyze reports in response to data requests and school initiatives. Complete school-wide reports as required by the JSN, Archdiocese of Seattle, and the State of Washington.
- Review longitudinal and disaggregated data trends and translate raw data into accessible visualizations to increase the ease of data interpretation and inform decisions.
- Oversee and coordinate the student evaluation process of teachers twice a year.
- Manage the course request process, including the coordination of student placements, course requests, and appeals for both incoming freshmen and returning students. Coordinate data input and output for this project with the Registrar.
- Lead the scheduling team to build and publish the master schedule and allocate classroom spaces for the academic schedule. Manage master schedule-related data including staffing, course sections, honors or non-honors enrollment.
- Evaluate transcripts of transfer candidates and create schedules for accepted transfer students.
Summer Programs
- Supervise academic, co-curricular, and enrichment summer programs. Enhance offerings for current and prospective students, and plan, oversee, and evaluate programs.
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and support summer teachers, moderators, and coaches.
- In collaboration with Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning and department chairs, design and execute for-credit summer courses for current students and bridge programs for incoming students.
- In collaboration with the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal for Student Life, ensure robust co-curricular summer programs for elementary school students, incoming and current students.
- In collaboration with the Directors of Admissions and Marketing/Communications, expand summer offerings to a greater range of elementary school students and ensure timely and engaging marketing to prospective participants and partner schools.
- Develop and monitor budgets for Summer Programs. Oversee summer program stipends, issue contracts, and monitor budgets in collaboration the Director of Human Resources and CFO.
- Work closely with the Dean of Students and Director of Facilities to supervise the safety, attendance, and facilities functions of the Summer Program.
Other Functions
- Present to a variety of stakeholders, including offering faculty and staff training on how to use data to make mission-aligned decisions, marketing to external partners to promote summer programs, and sharing study results to community groups.
- Participate in external professional organizations and JSN programs and develop relationships with external partners to ensure best practices and innovation.
- Oversee the school accreditation process.
- Serve on committees and spearhead special projects as requested by the Principal.
- Engage fully in the life of the school: this includes supervision of students, participation in meetings, retreats, professional development, and all school masses and assemblies.
Minimum qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Education, Leadership, Data Science, or a related field, and a minimum of five years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Understanding of best practices and current trends in education, including in academics, co-curriculars, and business functions of the school.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data utilizing technology.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth.
- Ability to multi task, prioritize requests, and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to Prep’s mission and values, especially as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Supportive of the mission of a Catholic, Jesuit high school and formation of the whole person.
- All employees must complete a criminal history background check and safe environment training upon hire and every 3 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree.
- Five or more years of teaching, co-curricular, or school leadership experience, preferably in a high school.
- Experience with Jesuit, Catholic education.
- Expertise in launching, leading, growing, and evaluating programs, preferably in a school setting.
- Experience utilizing a range of technological software for scheduling, reporting, and analysis.
- Demonstrated marketing, promotion, and communication expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to build an academic schedule and school calendar.
- Washington State Teaching or Leadership Credential, or other appropriate certification.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000 annually. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications. This is a 12 month position.
Our excellent benefits package includes an allowance of $19,800 annually that may be applied to benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance and flexible spending account. Employees who do not elect insurance may choose to receive the benefits allowance as supplemental pay. Our 403b program includes up to a 7.5% employer contribution when employee match considerations are met. Generous time off, sick leave, and a school sponsored medical leave program.
