Instructional Coach, Seaford High School, for the 2025-2026 School Year
Reports To: School Principal
Description of Position: The Instructional Coach collaborate with the School Principal and Office of Instruction to design and implement comprehensive, school-based professional learning, mentoring, and instructional support to teachers. The Instructional Coach provides guidance on the implementation of district adopted and standards-based curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning within his/her assigned school through PLC and department meetings. The scope of work will require coordination and collaboration with the with the School Principal, the Office of Instruction, and other school personnel.
Major Responsibilities:
• Communicate Content Standards and learning outcomes to the school staff through leading job-embedded professional learning.
• Assist the school/district with the implementation of district adopted high quality materials and the creation of high quality unit/curriculum development
• Share strategies that support the implementation of the CCSS Content Standards.
• Share strategies that support student’s critical thinking and analytical acumen during instruction, and strategies to support teacher instruction for student engagement leading to understanding of CCSS standards.
• Assist with the development of strategies to increase achievement for all student groups working with PLCs and building leaders to address issues of equity and access
• Assist teachers with the analysis of student achievement data and help teachers adjust instruction based on the results
• Plan and deliver professional learning for content teachers and co-teachers, including addressing differentiation of instruction
• Work collaboratively with school-based administration to implement the elements from the school strategic and/or professional learning plan applicable to increasing student performance
• Assist teachers to accelerate students who are performing below grade level by providing guidance on intervention and remediation
• Mentor novice teachers, including strategies such as modeling and co-teaching
• Build and share high quality professional learning to support the skillful use of high quality instructional materials Desired Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Concentration in curriculum, instruction, administration/leadership, and English / Literacy / Math education/leadership, and/or professional developmentExperience:
• Minimum of three years successful teaching in a K-12 classroom or similar experience
• Firm knowledge of Common Core Standards
• Preferred experience with supporting teachers in a mentoring or coaching capacity
• Preferred experience with leading teacher professional learning
• Knowledge of High Quality Instructional Materials Instruction and Learning
• Preferred experience with successful school reform initiatives at the school, district, and/or statewide level Skills:
• Knowledge and skills in best practices of professional learning for adult learners
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Performs responsibilities with minimal supervision
• Capable of setting priorities and working in collaboration with others
• Capable of setting priorities and working under pressure
• Be able to proactively problem-solve with professionalism

Salary:
Salary will be computed in accordance with the educational level and work experience of the individual selected and in accordance with salary schedules for employees of the district.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other district office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Teacher Certification - Delaware Code Title 14 Section 1500
NOTE: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required for all employees of the Seaford School District.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: All new state employees will be required to participate in the State of Delaware's Direct Deposit system. With direct deposit, wage and salary payments are deposited in the employee's bank account via electronic funds transfer.
All final candidates for employment must have a satisfactory criminal background check before being placed on contract/payroll as per State of Delaware regulations. Candidates must call the Delaware State Police at (800) 464-4357 to make an appointment. The cost of the criminal background check is $65 (expense borne by the prospective employee). Final candidates must also receive a satisfactory child protection registry check. The cost of the CPR check is $14 (expense borne by the prospective employee).
Final candidates must also produce documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.
The State of Delaware has initiated a lag pay policy which means that new employees will receive the first paycheck at the end of the second pay period of work.
