  •   Summary:
    The Innovation Specialist is a visionary leader supporting technology integration and innovative programming to drive transformational change in teaching and learning. This role combines expertise in educational technology with a focus on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance instruction and prepare students and staff for a rapidly evolving digital landscape. The Innovation Specialist collaborates with district leaders, school staff, and other stakeholders to develop, implement, and support initiatives that align with district goals and promote a culture of continuous innovation.

    General Experience and Credentials:

     
    • Experience with educational technology systems.
    • Three (3) years teaching experience
    • Possession of a Bachelor's degree with a PEL from an accredited university or college.
    • Certifications related to educational or instructional technology preferred (e.g. Apple Teacher / Learning Specialist, Google Certified Educator).
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong understanding of educational technology tools and platforms
    • Ability to envision and lead forward-thinking initiatives that align with district goals.
    • Strong skills in facilitating adult learning, with experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing training programs.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff and departments to align technology solutions with educational goals.
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and perform tasks assigned with minimal supervision
    • High degree of professionalism and customer service skills
     

    Essential Functions:

     
    • Collaborate with instructional staff and the Teaching and Learning Department to align technology solutions with instructional practices and district priorities.
    • Research, pilot, and implement emerging technologies and innovative digital tools, such as artificial intelligence, to drive instructional transformation and improve student outcomes.
    • Develop and deliver professional development sessions to enhance staff proficiency in integrating technology, use of artificial intelligence, and other emerging tools into instruction.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive resources—including training materials, user guides, and troubleshooting manuals—to support staff use of district technology tools.
    • Act as a liaison between the Teaching & Learning and Technology Departments, ensuring cohesive implementation and support of digital tools and platforms across instructional settings.
    • Coach and support staff in the effective use of innovative technologies, fostering a culture of experimentation, creativity, and continuous learning.
    • Provide guidance on responsible technology use, data privacy, and digital citizenship to promote safe and ethical practices for staff and students.
    • Assess and recommend technology tools, identifying needs for upgrades or replacements to meet evolving instructional goals and district standards.
    • Analyze data on instructional technology and achievement to assess program impact and refine strategies based on results.
    • Evaluate district technology tools regularly, recommending enhancements to better meet instructional needs and goals.
    • Facilitate the creation and regular updating of documentation—including user guides, FAQs, and training resources—to support seamless adoption of district technology systems.
    • Lead and coordinate assigned projects, including pilot programs and action research on technology integration, to drive instructional innovation and effectiveness.
    • Participate in district-level strategic planning and provide insights on technology trends, digital tools, and their impact on instructional goals.
    • Support the roll-out of new technologies by providing training, resources, and continuous support for staff.
    • Collaborate on district-wide data management initiatives, helping to streamline data use and improve decision-making processes for instructional support.
    • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in educational technology to inform district policies and practices.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
