Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree of related subject from an accredited university
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certification (EX)
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as an Middle School Teacher (preferred)
Position Function: Teaches and facilitates learning and maintains academic progress, discipline, and records for students at the high school grade level. Works with parents and students to provide and implement classroom education to meet the needs of all students. Essential Performance Responsibilities: Duties of this job include, but are not limited to: - Embraces the instructional cycle of Direct Instruction, Guided Practice, and Independent Practice
- Provides Authentic learning activities for students
- Embraces engaging group work and student collaboration
- Provides weekly lesson plans aligned to state standards and common core aligned to the school's scope and sequence and tied to power standards
- Implements cross curricular planning by effectively collaborating with other content areas through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Executes lessons that reflect collaborative planning from Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Establish clear and measurable objectives for all lessons, units and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
- Provides bell to bell instruction
- Provides weekly communication logs to Principal based on conversations with students and parents highlighting successes, accomplishments, concerns
- Collaborate and communicate with staff to meet the educational needs of students
- Create, administer, and grade tests to evaluate student progress
- Establish and enforce rules and procedures which help to maintain order in the classroom
- Observe, evaluate, and prepare reports on the progress of students. Discusses students’ problems and progress with parents and staff
- Participates and is engaged in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops
- Prepare classroom instructions to promote students’ success on state assessment exams
- Observes, enforces and is directed by the policies, procedures, and regulations adopted by the school district, and by the school
- Participates in school and or district specific committees
- Assists with additional duties as assigned by the Principal
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Ability and patience to work interactively with students
- Skill in organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deliver teaching instruction in accordance with improved curriculum and standards
- Excellent skills in verbal and written communication
- Ability to understand the individual needs of each student
- Ability to effectively use Google and the student information system – MiStar
- Ability to take accurate and timely attendance
- Ability to update grades no later than 2 days after an assignment has been given to students
- Ability to check and respond to email at least 3 times a day - before school, during prep, and after school

- The employee is required to interact with students, staff, parents/guardians and occasionally with the public.
- At times, the employee may be directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
Terms and Conditions of Employment: - Ten-month school year
- Salary to be according to the current contact with Wayne County MEA/NEA
