JOB TITLE: Master Carpenter
DUTY DAYS: 240
PAY GRADE: N07
STARTING SALARY: $147.36 /day
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To maintain building and structures in a manner consistent with PISD standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Have a valid Texas driver’s license and meet and maintain insurance requirements of PISD.
- Must pass initial drug test and be part of random drug testing program.
- Must pass criminal history
Special Knowledge/ Skills/Experience
- Knowledge and developed skills in all phases of carpentry.
- Ability to read Blueprints and interpret diagrams.
- Skilled on the maintenance and use of the tools, equipment, and materials of the trade.
- Minimum ten years’ experience as a carpenter preferred.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Prep and install slab doors.
- Install hollow metal and aluminum doors and door frames.
- Build, apply finish, and install cabinets.
- Perform minor and major repairs to all facilities
- Repair and install lay-in ceilings
- Repair/replace doors and door closures
- Coordinate project assignment with other personnel and other crafts as required.
- Install plastic laminate.
- Install door hardware.
- Frame wall and install drywall.
- Tape and float drywall.
- Fabricate and repair wooden decks.
- Prepare cost estimates and material orders.
- Must have working knowledge of computer systems in regard to email, time entry, and work orders.
- Must be willing to respond to occasional after hour emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under
stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions
Physical Demands/Environment Factors:
Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting, must have use of all
faculties. Must be able to work from ladders and elevated platforms. Work outside.
Exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and
materials. May work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
