Title: Substitute Instructional Assistant (Non-Special Education)
Rate: $18.00/hr., New Rate starting September 11, 2024.
Summary: A Substitute Instructional Assistant (Non-Special Education) assists the classroom teacher in providing extra support to students with special needs, promoting maximum academic and personal growth. The substitute special education assistant's job responsibilities range from supplementing the general education classroom curriculum to helping individual students.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities range from supporting general education and/or ESL curriculums to helping individual students, including reading and listening to students and reviewing their work.
Assists the teacher with instructional activities in the classroom, including working with individual students or small groups of students on contents and skills introduced by the teacher.
Assists the teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class.
Assists with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials.
Assist students with preparing for and moving to other classrooms, school activities, outside activities, and arrival and departure from school.
Assists students with clothing, grooming, and bathroom activities as needed.
Aids students with the use of specialized equipment as needed.
Attends to students’ physical, academic, and emotional needs.
Communicates to the teacher any unusual situations or needs of students.
Protects the confidentiality of records and information gained while performing the duties and uses discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
Performs other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration.
