Full Time Bus Assistant
Reports To: Coordinator of Transportation
Takes Direction From: Lead Technician
Schedule/Calendar: 8 hours/day (9 am to 5 pm) 40 hours/week 12 month Benefits
Summary: Maintains and repairs all district vehicles, including school buses, vans, security, food services, marching band, and administration vehicles.
Salary: $32.37/hr.
Essential Functions:
? Diagnoses and perform repairs for all mechanical and component functions of vehicles, including preventive maintenance.
? Documents and maintain accurate records of all repairs performed, including all vehicle data information, parts and supplies, and repair time.
? Performs road and/or function tests to verify that repairs have been completed properly.
? Performs road service and field repairs as necessary.
? Prepares district buses and vans for annual state police inspection.
? Mounts and dismounts tires as needed or directed.
? Attends all in-service training meetings as required by the district and/or department.
? Chains bus tires during snow emergencies as directed by the Coordinator of Transportation.
? Plows and clears snow and ice in bus compound and surrounding lots when necessary and as directed. Lend assistance to facilities staff in same throughout the
district as needed and directed.
? Ensures cleanliness and safety of garage, individual work area and bus compound.
? Delivers and picks up supplies and materials as needed.
? Backs up as bus driver as needed and directed.
? Submits to Drug/Alcohol testing as required by Federal and State DOT.
? Abides by all district and departmental policies and regulations as written.
? Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications:
- Pennsylvania State Inspection License, Pennsylvania CDL Drivers’ License, Class B with School Bus and Air Brake endorsement preferred. (Will train the right candidate)
- Must own minimum basic mechanic tools
- Personal driving history accident/violation free for minimum previous three years
- Criminal record free of convictions as set forth in PA Act 34 and Act 151. Able to pass annual school bus driver's physical as set forth in the Pennsylvania Motor
Vehicle Code.
Requisite Skills: - Maintain professional behavior at all times when dealing with students, parents, school staff and fellow employees.
- Must be able to read and speak English.
- Physically able to render aid to students in the event of an accident or emergency.
