District Electrician
Reports To: Coordinator of Maintenance & Facilities
Takes Direction From: Coordinator of Maintenance & Facilities, Director of Facilities and Operations
Schedule/Calendar: 8 hours/day 40 hours/week 12 Month Benefits
Salary: $34.63/hr.
Summary: The District Electrician is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, generators, lighting, etc under general supervision.
Essential Functions:
- Installs conduit and connects outlets, panels, boxes, electrical circuits etc
- Designs, installs, maintains and tests wiring for lights, alarms, and various power systems
- Understands and has knowledge of the most current version of National Electric Code
- Performs necessary power feed wiring
- Troubleshoots circuits and corrects problems by performing standard electrical testing procedures.
- Performs load testing as required and takes appropriate corrective action
- Performs tasks related to maintaining electrical systems and cooling components for proper operation of refrigeration equipment
- Troubleshoots and repairs problems on commercial kitchen equipment
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains surveillance cameras, PA systems, and fire alarms as well as data, voice, and security alarm systems
- Designs, installs, maintains and services all electrical equipment such as transformers, switches, circuit breakers, controllers, motors, receptacles, elevators, etc
- Performs emergency service on emergency generating equipment, transfer switches, and internal power supply sources as assigned
- Maintains storage of and inventories electrical equipment, materials, and supplies
- Advises Coordinator of Maintenance & Facilities and/or Director of Facilities and Operations of electrical related matters during emergencies, power outages, and hazardous situations
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Education and/or Certification Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical, trade school, or industry recognized apprentice program completion.
- Possess current electrician registration in one of the municipalities within North Penn School District
- Valid PA drivers license is required.
Experience Needed:
- Minimum 5 years experience as a qualified electrician in a related industry
Requisite Skills:
- Skilled in assembly, installation, testing, and general maintenance of electrical systems
- Ability to understand and follow simple written or oral instructions
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and instructions as well as equipment operation and maintenance instructions
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, twist, stand, raise arms above shoulders, stoop to floor, and climb ladders
- Ability to work in noisy or dusty areas, work alone, work in confined spaces, work at heights, work in severe weather, and work both inside and outside
