REPORTS TO: Technology Supervisor
SUPERVISES: N/A
QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or equivalent with at least two years experience in IT support and maintenance
CompTIA A+ and Network+ Certification recommended. Cisco CCNA certification or above highly preferred
In-depth knowledge of network systems both LAN and WAN, TCP/IP protocols, operating systems, computer software and the ability to provide senior-level support
Understanding of network security technologies, encryption, quality-of- service, and network protection
Must have experience in network design and layout
Must have a good understanding of Voice Over IP (VoIP) and videoconferencing technologies using Cisco CallManager with Unified Voicemail systems
A good understanding of Cisco IOS’s and platforms
A good understanding of network monitoring systems and SNMP protocols
Experience with various computer operating systems both PC and Macintosh
Ability to work proactively and independently or in a team environment and adapt to the needs of the department to support the schools
The ability to manage personnel and coordinate individuals or groups in the completion of projects which includes being able to clearly express instructions. Must work well with all types of people and be able to handle conflicts properly. Management experience preferred
Good communication skills both oral and written. The ability to document and follow procedures properly
The ability to explain clearly technical information to a person with limited technology knowledge
The ability to coordinate and work with 3rd party vendors in the completion of tasks
The ability to manage time and resources efficiently
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
A strong work ethic and dedication to the job
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support and maintain all LAN/WAN-based network equipment, ensure all equipment is running current versions (i.e. switches, routers, firewall, Radius, wireless controllers)
Provide Tier 2 support for PC technicians for all schools which include support for all district workstations (PC and Mac), laptops and printers. Responsible for workstation configurations and base clone configurations
Support all VoIP phone systems, phones, and voicemail systems of the district
Maintain security and monitor for network vulnerabilities
Administer all wireless networks and ensure proper security with connecting devices
Maintain all SNMP network monitoring station for all SNMP capable devices
Support and maintain all district network-based time clocks
Responsible for all communications rooms and the upkeep and security of these rooms
Assist the Director of Technology with the planning and design of future technology integrations
Responsible for all battery backup and generator units in all wiring closets
Maintain a working relationship with the Mississippi Department of Education networking department
Administer all Blackberry PDA units and Blackberry Servers
Works closely with the Systems Administrator in the installation of network-based equipment and cabling to meet the schools needs
Responsible for documenting of setup and configurations of managed equipment.
System performance tuning and insure that the server infrastructure is up and running.
Indoctrinating and training technicians in district technology procedure and process
Work with distributors, vendors, and contractors to accomplish projects.
Responsible for the maintenance and administration of the district-wide IP-based surveillance cameras
Responsible for the video-conferencing units across the district
Perform routine audits on computer and network security
Administer the Virtual Private Network connections for all users dialing into the network
Any other responsibilities the Director of Technology deems necessary to the benefit of the Moss Point School District
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 days, at-will employee
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of School District’s personnel.
