TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Month, Full Time, 7:00am - 3:00pm
STARTING DATE: May 2025
STARTING RATE: $17.86 per hour
*Actual salary is dependent on education, experience and contract.
DUTIES: 1. Prepares, paints and/or refinishes wood, metal and other surfaces.
2. Installs, maintains, repairs, replaces and rebuilds electrical fixtures, equipment and wiring systems.
3. Installs, maintains, repairs, replaces and rebuilds plumbing equipment and systems including, but not limited to faucets, toilet fixtures, and drinking fountains. Uses a snake or power auger to unclog drain lines.
4. Mixes plaster and concrete and is responsible for laying bricks and blocks, plastering walls, finishing concrete work, stone cutting, and related masonry work.
5. Make, assemble, install, maintain, repair and rebuild doors, stairs, walls, floors, desks, chairs, cabinets, tables and other wood products, equipment and structures.
6. Install and repair floor and ceiling tiles, acoustic and drywall systems, insulating materials and roofs.
7. Snow removal as needed.
8. Required to perform other related maintenance functions as required.
9. Adhere to safety practices and requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Civil Service eligibility as Maintenance Mechanic II. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus one One year of experience as a skilled worker in one or more of the electrical, mechanical or construction trades.
NOTE: Additional experience may be substituted for the high school diploma on a year-for-year basis.
2. Complete knowledge of building construction common practices, terminology and safety precautions.
3. Good personal verbal and written communication skills.
4. Good attendance and self-directed worker.
5. Display a positive attitude.
6. Able to work from plans, specifications and rough sketches.
7. Able to follow written and verbal communications.
8. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation) including, but not limited to:
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling
• Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, climbing a ladder and/or reaching.
• Transporting tools, equipment and supplies to job site
