    Contracted Child Caregiver - Riverside Learning Center

    JOB GOAL

    The caregivers, under the supervision of the Center Director, shall direct activities, provide supervision for and interact with the children in the center or classroom.

    Rate of pay: $13.77 per hour, third party contracted

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     
    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
    • Must like working with children in both structured and unstructured situations.
    • Must have an understanding of basic group management skills.
     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     
    • The primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and well-being of all children and adults in the program. Recognize at all times that the children are our first and most important priority.
    • Supervise the children in planned activities that promote social, physical, emotional and intellectual development geared to the age and interests of the children.
    • Report all suspected cases of child abuse or neglect and any specific needs or problems of the children to the Center Director.
    • Represent yourself in a positive and professional manner at all times.
    • Help enforce appropriate behavioral limits following the guidelines stated in the program behavioral management policy. When discipline is required do so with dignity and respect to the children.
    • Check in/out children-notifying Director in the case of conflicting attendance information. Acknowledge parent and child upon arrival and departure.
    • Communicate frequently with the children. Interact positively with them by engaging in play and placing yourself at their level. Provide a cheerful atmosphere to the room by decorating the room with their art work.
    • Remember that all children are different and respect those differences. Treat all children respectfully and fairly. You are a role model for them.
    • Maintain frequent head counts to ensure the safety of all children.
    • Assist the Director in the planning and implementation of quality activities for the children.
    • Keep the room and all equipment in a clean and sanitary condition. Help to keep the room neat and orderly.
    • Attend staff meetings, evaluations and field trips as scheduled.
    • May occasionally be required to assume certain responsibilities of the Center Director in their absence.
    • Any and all other duties as deemed necessary.
