    We are hiring Substitute Teachers in The Meriden Public Schools

    Substituting is an excellent opportunity to be a mentor and help students as they advance towards their post-secondary goals. Substitutes are essential in ensuring students continue to learn and grow every day.  Flexible work schedule provided if needed.  Opportunities for training and job shadow as part of onboarding.  

     

    Responsibilities:

     
    • Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and district policies
    • Leading instruction in the classroom by conducting the teacher’s existing lesson plans
    • Instructing students on classroom topics/courses
    • Building positive relationships
    • Empower students to learn, and encourage classroom participation
    • Build a classroom environment that’s conducive to learning and appropriate to the ability and interests of students
    • Adapt to the various learning styles of students
    • For long-term assignments, it may be required to develop lessons plans, as well as build, administer, and grade tests and assignments
     


    Substitute teachers receive $110 per day.

     

    Qualifications:

     

    If you hold a bachelor's degree from an approved institution, you may serve as a substitute teacher in a Connecticut public school system.
    If you have credits towards a bachelor's and your application is supported by the Meriden Public Schools, you may receive a one year certificaiton to work as a substitute teacher.

     

    Note: If you select this job and pool only, you will not be required to upload letters of reference.
