    Position Purpose:  Provide comprehensive school psychological services to students in grades PK-12.
     
    Contracted:  10 months 10 days
     
    Supervisor:  Director of Student Services 
     
    Office will be located at the new school complex.
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
    • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations that include but are not limited to the assessment of intellectual, developmental, academic, social/emotional and behavioral status.
    • Serve as member of Eligibility Team, presenting assessment results and determining eligibility for special education
    • Interpret and utilize assessment data for the purpose of writing psychological reports and developing written intervention plans.
    • Provide individual and group counseling to students as indicated in their IEPs
    • Consult and collaborate with school administration, instructional staff, and parents regarding the individual behavioral and academic needs of students utilizing functional behavior assessment (FBA) 
    • Provide crisis intervention in response to critical incidents and assists in conducting threat assessments
    • Serve as a member of the Child Study Team at the elementary, intermediate and high school levels, as needed
    • Participate in IEP team meetings, as needed
    • Serve as a member of other school-based teams, as appropriate
    • Assist with crisis intervention
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services
    • Mentor Behavioral Interventionists.
    Additional Duties:
    Performs other related tasks as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
     
    Knowledge of psychological theory and practice including assessment and test theory, diagnostic categories, personality assessment, learning disabilities, statistics, and counseling theories; knowledge of and adherence to legal procedures as contained in local, state, and federal policies governing special education, including IDEA laws and guidelines; knowledge of and adherence to professional and ethical standards of the American Psychological Association and the National Association of School Psychologists; knowledge of counseling techniques, behavioral management techniques, classroom instructional interventions, and parent training strategies.

    Equipment:
    Uses MCPS computers, servers, switches, scanners and printers, and related equipment for scoring and reporting purposes.

    Travel Requirements:
    Travel to school district locations to complete evaluations/assist administration and teachers with students’ needs.

    SALARY:  Commensurate with ability and experience
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:    
    • Hold or be eligible for a Pupil Personnel Services License with an endorsement in School Psychology
    • Have experience with administering and interpreting a variety of standardized psychological and educational assessments
    • Have excellent oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills
    • Demonstrate leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators and colleagues.
