1. Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
2. Greet and direct visitors to assigned area.
3. Assist public, staff, and students as needed.
4. Maintain visitor log and issue visitor passes.

5. Prepare mailing and labels using personal computer.
6. Maintain computerized files using personal computer including reports, employee roster, and mailing lists.
7. Sort, distribute, or deliver mail, messages, and other documents.

Primary Purpose:
Provide interpreting services for Deaf or hard of hearing students in a variety of educational settings.  This position requires the employee to be qualified to use conversational sign language at a high level as well as provide language opportunities.  Expectation is employee is working toward obtaining sign language interpreter certification.  Employee will be serving as a language model and would have to step out of the role of typical certified sign language interpreter.
 
Qualifications:

2. Assist and provide support facilitation for Deaf or hard of hearing students under the direction of classroom teacher.
 
3. Help maintain student data, administrative records, and prepare required reports.

4. Help manage student behavior as outlined in student’s IED. 
5. Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s communication needs.
6. Keep Coordinator, Diagnostician, and teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned students.

Job Goal:
The role of the Family Support Specialist is to help families attain goals.  The primary goals are to educate families on how to access community resources, to increase each family member’s involvement in their children’s education, and to help each family become a functional unit within the community. 
Major Duties:
 
• Act as an advocate, a supporter of the children and families enrolled in the program, both within the center and the larger community
• Assist in completing any and all types of records as required by the Head Start Performance Standards
• Assist in establishing any and all training sessions for staff, parents and students as required by the Head Start Performance Standards
