POSITION SUMMARY
The Strength and Conditioning Instructor is a full-time, year-round position responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program for student athletes as well as students electing to take a strength and conditioning course, with the three major goals of improving physical performance, reducing physical injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness to students. The Strength and Conditioning Instructor will work closely with sport coaches, athletic training staff, and athletic and school administrators. It is imperative that the successful candidate demonstrates a proven aptitude for training and coaching, illustrated by a strong work ethic, organizational skills and the ability to produce results. Contracted Days: 260, Full-time
Salary; $67,000 - $82,000, dependent upon experience
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, health, physical education or related field.
- Minimum three years of prior training experience or high school instructing experience.
- A current relevant professional certification credentialed by an independent accreditation agency; strongly preferred NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) certification or a relevant professional certification credentialed by an independent accreditation agency.
- First Aid and CPR certified as well as knowledge and understanding of the concussion protocol.
- Strong motivational abilities w/athletes & collaboration skills w/coaches/colleagues.
- Evidence of ability to interact positively with student athletes, coaches, colleagues, and the public; positive representation of CNTHS Athletics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Teach related courses during class hours and work with student athletes during practice hours outside of class hours based on in-season and off-season schedules.
Delivery of strength and power, speed, agility, and movement sessions, in one to one, small group, and large group settings. - Prioritize creating a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students.
- Devise and implement training plans according to sound scientific and research-based principles.
- Evaluate students properly and maintain all necessary student records, including progress, attendance, etc.
- Design and implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program.
- Instruct and demonstrate skills and techniques necessary for development.
- Work in cooperation with the athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured students.
- Facilitate a collaborative relationship and work closely with sport coaches.
- Properly maintain weight room and strength and conditioning related facilities and equipment, and work with the facilities team to ensure proper cleaning and sanitation.
- Annually assess departmental needs in terms of equipment, protocols, procedures, etc., and share assessment with necessary administrators.
- Reinforce expectations for student/student-athlete conduct that mirror the school's expectations for in school and co-curricular activities.
- Be a role model through words, actions, and a positive attitude.
- Enforces discipline policies and emphasizes good behavior and healthy lifestyles.
- Interacts thoughtfully and respectfully with students, staff, parents, fellow coaches, and administrators, and resolves conflicts in a professional manner.
- Professionally represents the school and district in interactions with students, parents, the community, staff and the media.
- Attends all required coaching and staff meetings.
- Provide coach or parent education as necessary.
- Assist colleagues for coverage as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by principal, athletic director, or district administration.
